This knife is excellent.. I damaged my father's serrated spyderco knife attempting to sharpen it and so I bought him this to replace it. There is only one "problem" with this knife and that's its hardness. This is an exceptionally hard steel. The edge retention on this thing is insane but on the same token it is very difficult to sharpen. If you buy this knife you need to either use diamond stones/hones or use an angle sharpener or grinding wheel. Can it be sharpened with a normal whetstone? Yes.. but it is very time consuming compared to using diamond. If you aren't the greatest sharpener your best bet is to have it professionally sharpened every few months or whenever it needs it. There are times I wish I had bought my father a knife made from a softer easier steel because he isn't a "knife guy". However that is not an issue of the product. Also the action on the para 3 is very smooth and simple to flick open or close one handed. The knife is also perfect size wise.. I wish they would ditch the dumb lanyard hole to make the handle slightly shorter but unfortunately lanyards are all the rage right now. It fits inside your jeans "5th pocket" although it feels more secure clipped to your front pocket. The G10 scales feel almost rubbery and provide a good secure grip. The blade geometry being flat ground and thin lends itself well to slicing which is the main and most important function of a pocket knife. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase and I recommend this knife.

Spyderco quality is excellent. S110v lives upto its billing for corrosion resistance and edge retention. I really like the blade shape; it plows through tough cutting tasks with ease. I was a bit apprehensive buying on line given the fear of knock offs infiltrating amazon. This knife is the real deal.

This is my first Spyderco. (It took me a while to come to terms with the aesthetics of the spidey hole and hump, but I’m on board now.) I chose the Para 3 for its smaller size and this particular configuration because it features CPM S110V steel, which is pretty super stuff. I love the sliciness of the flat grind. The scales’ indigo color is nice. Fit and finish of the knife are impeccable. I don’t use pocket clips, but I’ll call out this one negative that may be important for those who do. The scales are rough enough and the pocket clip is so tight that this knife will quickly abrade the top seam of a pocket. A stack of corrugated offered surprisingly little resistance to the blade’s flat grind and the sharpest factory edge I’ve ever seen. I sharpened it anyway, ending with a strop, so the knife is now as sharp as a scalpel. I love, love, love this knife!
