What will the 2.25 HP Dewalt router do that this will not? Differences?

Well it depends a lot on what purpose you are using it for. The HP claims are pretty much worthless as both will be equal in terms of mid-size routing. The major flaw the 2.25HP (DW618. I'll refer to it as "618". Whereas this is the DW616... SO, "616") has is it cannot be used in an upside down router table without blowing up bearings in it. THE 616 is fine in a table. Also, the 616 has a quick start vs 618 which is a slow start. This means the 616 is running full speed at start, while the 618 starts slow and takes a second or two to build up speed. Both have advantages, and disadvantages. The BIGGEST issue for myself and others is that the 618 motor has... well... fire problems. Lol. That motor does not like extended use and with eat up brushes like mad. The 616 might have a bit less power, but its basically unnoticeable if you are using good sharp bits. Most importantly... the 616 (the "weaker" of the 2) tends to handle a lengthy runtime without catching fire lol. Personally, I prefer the 616 when it comes to mid-range routers. It has plenty of power, even with hardwoods, and larger bits. If you are planning on closing giant bits, or surface planing, I'd recommend neither and point you to a larger plunge base style of router with much greater strength, but a much higher weight.

can this model be used in router table (no dust protection)

Yes, the spindle detaches from the base and can be mounted in a router table. I am using it with the Kreg Precision Lift.

Do not order from Amazon UAE - it is 120V

As a router like any other power tool Dewalt is great; I am actively using table saw, router, drill etc... Satisfied about doing the job right. However do not suggest anyone to buy this one (Dewalt DW616) from UAE; it is 120V with US plug type - can not be used directly. Just for tool to work need to have convertor of least 2000W which costs additional 200-300 AED.

Easy to use

I have a fairly major post and beam joinery project underway and purchased a 2.3 hp router but found it was too powerful, heavy and awkward for my work (better suited for mounting in a table). The Dewalt is lighter and has all the power and scope I need to complete my project. All good, although the old school on/off switch could be updated.

Buenas noches, hoy recibi el Router Dewalt y llego muy rapido tal como lo prometio el vendedor, me gusta mucho su maniobrabilidad y su facilidad para cambiar la navajas que se hace con dos llaves y su forma rotativa para ajustar la altura . Ya lo monte en una mesa que hice y funciona de maravilla. Muchas gracia,s soy aficionado a la carpinteria y si alguien como yo que solo busca hacer algo de este oficio en sus ratos libres, vale la pena invertir en este Router y no dejarse ir por otros "Economicos" que hay en el mercado, hace 6 meses compre un Router Stanley en Mercado Libre y ya se me descompuso y lo peor de todo es que el vendedor "Tienda Mercadazo S.A. de C.V" ya no contesta mis correos ni su telefono, por eso lo barato sale caro. Saludos
