Rit Dye RIT COLORSTAY, 8 fl oz, Dye Fixative (2-Pack)

I used Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative after dyeing a cotton fabric, and it helped set the color well. The shade stayed vibrant after rinsing, and I noticed less bleeding compared to previous projects without a fixative. It’s simple to use and gives extra confidence that the dye will last longer.

I LOVE this stuff and wish I'd known about it years ago. We've all been there. We've bought something new and washed it once or twice separately to ensure that it won't stain other laundry and then it just never stops shedding colour! Colour catchers only help so much whilst the vibrant patterns you were drawn to in the first place begin to look drab. It's depressing. This fixes the problem provided that you notice it soon enough. I'm so grateful and will now always keep an emergency bottle in the linen cupboard. Do consult the RIT website for more details than what are on the bottle as they explain very clearly how to deal with delicate fabrics and the pros and cons of the different methods of application. NB the site is in "American," so they a priori assume a top loader washing machine. Front loaders are called HE (high-efficiency) machines. Go forth and buy Indian block prints with confidence!

Use these to over dye my wool for rug making. Works very well and true to color if using on white. Interesting hues when applying to other colors

I would definitely recommend using this fixative with the Rit Synthetic dye to get the best results. It's easy to use and worth the extra time to make sure that your dyed items retain their colour. I used it successfully using the stove top method after using Rit Synthetic dye also on the stove. The photos show 2 of the items that I dyed and followed with the fixative. Both were dyed using Riot Synthetic dye in Graphite followed by the fixative and both have good strong colour after rinsing in the sink and then rinsing and spinning in the washing machine.
