API AQUA ESSENTIAL Water Conditioner 8 ounce bottle

I have 2 smaller fish tanks (5 gal and 20 gal) and have always bought the treatment for new tanks as I thought that's what u use each time and would need a cupful each time. With this one however u need 1 ml for 20 US gallon. Only 1!! This bottle will seriously last for at least a yr with weekly water changes and the price is unbeatable. It's a win win all around for this. Works great (you can actually watch the water clear up once u add the treatment in a bucket).

This stuff is great for binding ammonia and nitrites. I started using it after a bacteria crash and I now use it as my regular water conditioner for almost all my tanks. In my experience, it did not actually remove any nitrites or nitrates, but it certainly keeps the fish more comfortable in a crisis. I also only use a slight amount more than the regular dosage to detoxify (necessary because our water is highly chlorinated here) and do not use the higher dose as instructed on the second part of the directions label because when I did, my fish appeared very stressed out and lost some color (though I should note that I did not lose any fish, a water change and a lower dose did the job just fine after). I'm still giving this a 5 star review however, as it was a life saver for a tank crash and seems to be comparable to the higher priced products that are meant to bind toxins and keep your fish safe. I don't think there are any products that can truly remove the nitrites and nitrates, and no matter what if your levels aren't going down you can't avoid the extra water changes. But we keep this stuff on hand at all times now.

I love products that do what they say they're going to do. This one does just that. Great product for the money, my fish are thriving, my water is clear and always safe. Easy to use too.

Effective and easy to use. I only have turtle in my tanks so I can't speak for fish. It works well for my tank ammonia level is controlled ever since I started using this at least per my testing. I read some read some review in regards to fish dying with this product (perhaps this product works too well and changed the chemical content drastically which could have kill delicate fish - totally not an expert again) overall I am satisfied with this product at the moment.
