This has increased the fresh air being drawn in by the a/c units 2x and increased the efficiency as well as exhausting any odors, I keep it running on the number 2 setting with full exhaust mode. I should have bought one of these years ago. Installing took all of 8 minutes including the side seals for the window and it tucked right in between the window screen outside, so I didn't have to do anything but raise the window, place the unit, put in the seals and plug it in, set for exhaust, 72°, level 2 fan speed and its automatic, quiet, and highly effective and exhaust...great product especially if you fry allot of foods too. I installed a cat perch in front, my cats like the little breeze it produces to exhaust the air.

The perfect bedroom fan! Ok, I get how some people don’t care for this fan because it’s not blowing gale-force winds at you. However, if you want a gentle but effective fan for your bedroom (or anywhere you want to still be able to hear) that’s quiet and keeps the air fresh, this is for you! It’s 85 degrees outside and this fan literally makes it feel like there’s AC on. It’s super quiet, doesn’t rattle, doesn’t change direction, but because of the shape of the vent holes it effectively reaches from one side of the room to the other. Plus, it fits in our window without removing the screen and the display lights go off automatically. The remote is a nice bonus. I’m going to buy another one for the guest room!

It works pretty well, and has its pros but also cons. Pros for this are as follows. ⭐- Pretty quiet It's not very noticeable on low to medium; high is just a hum, but not annoying. ⭐- Moves a decent amount of air The air is highly directional, though, basically jetting out directly in front of the device. (Please take a look at cons though, because there are cases where you won't get as much out of it unless things are done) ⭐- small profile and sleek look It blends in well and doesn't take much of your view from outside. The touchscreen controls are quite nice and responsive. No worries about a button failing on you over time as some other products. Cons are the following to consider, ⭐- Design might not be appropriate for your kind of window (also a fix for it) Because of the way it's meant to sit in the window frame, there may be a large opportunity for air to come inside. I had to use padded weather stripping on the top and bottom to give a tighter seal to stop cold drafts and such. The lip at the bottom is the main issue. (could've been solved if they produced this with foam pads at the top and bottom to create a better seal.) ⭐- Reduced speed in a closed room Depending on how sealed your room is, this product might move more or less air. It shines when there is a way for the air it's pushing in to escape, but suffers if there isn't. If possible, to get the best out of it, you can crack a window somewhere else, or just open a door if the room is sealed too well. (Really wish it came with a dual system so it can do both input and output at the same time, just down to design. Though it would cost more, and more complicated means more likely to have issues, but would have been great to have the option.) ⭐- Insects may get in (also a fix for it) If you are in an area with lots of little critters flying or crawling about, this product doesn't come with an insect mesh to stop them from walking through. Although if it's on, it seems to do an okay job of deterring most. I ended up getting some mosquito netting and weatherproof tape to cut and cover the outdoor air intake/output. After that, most I've seen is a nat once in a while. ⭐- Rain leakage (also a fix for it) Partially responsible due to the fitting in the window and the seal. The noteworthy areas are the sides of the product. I've noticed that when it rains, because of the design, the sides can let water leak into the interior as most of it drips down to the bottom lip of the device, where it ends up inside. High wind scenarios make it worse. ( Solved this by getting extra-thick weatherstripping and wrapping it around the top, bottom, and sides of the fan where the window meets it. making sure that the cut seam is on the middle top surface of the device. Plug the sides of the window and device tightly.) ⭐- Let in the draft When off, it will still let in outside air draft. Which could be good or bad. Bad if it's too humid out or cold, but it doesn't stop fresh air completely on the good side. (can probably get some kind of fabric velcro and cover the inside air slot or something, haven't thought of a fix that would not be janky)

It was quick and easy to setup and looks and feels great! Pros 1. Almost silent in setting 1(the lowest) while still having good airflow and still much quieter than my kitchen exhaust hood when both are at max settings with better air flow. 2. The thermostat is awesome as a set it and forget feature! Something I’ve never had on a fan before and it’s very handy. 3. A nice long power cord! On my old Windwood fan this was the second most annoying thing to deal with( right behind having to physically flip it around to blow air the other way) the cord on the Transom is long enough to reach outlets easily and comes with some clips to manage it once you’ve picked a long term spot for it. 3. The remote control is so good! Whether I just want to turn it off when I’m going to sleep or to bump it up when it’s getting warm in the room it’s come in handy numerous times just in the few days I have been using it. The only real Con I can think of is there isn’t a remote holder or something built in to the fan whether it be a magnet or some plastic slot or something like that would have been handy

Old house with a ductless recirculating range hood. Which all it does is move around cooking smoke. Tired of cleaning the greasy film that is all over the kitchen it was time to do something! Instead of a $2,000 vented range hood I thought I try the Vornado. Putting at the bottom of the window made no sense as the cooking smoke rises. So.... turned the unit upside down put above the top window sash and supported the window with stops. The rubber gap fillers fit perfectly (with some soap solution applied). The fan does allow a lot of hot air into the house so turned it on to exhaust level 1 speed. No more hot air. The exhaust is as strong as it's inflow and it works! I have a BlueAir dust magnet air purifier in the next room and every time I cook it reports high air pollution - No more! So this jury rig solution worked! Quiet even at full speed, great quality. Only downside is it will sooner or later get gunked up with smoke residue and there is no way to clean it so I'll have to replace it BUT I can do that quite a few times before I hit the $2,000 that a proper vented range hood would have cost.

This is an amazing and well built window fan unit. We have used it for about 3 years and it still works great. It is substantially better, more effective and more durable than the cheaper basic window fan units. It is easy to use and control and the remote works great. The one-touch reverse direction is handy: If its hot outside, this can blow the hot air out of your room. If its cooler outside, it can bring cool air in. But I do wish it could be programmed to automatically reverse in/out at a certain temperature. It only seems to allow you to program fan speed at temp, not direction. Obviously, this is not Air Conditioning... But if you can't get AC in a few rooms, or your AC is broken, this is a good second choice. Please note: where and how you install it, spacing for airflow, which direction the fan points, how much other airflow allowed in/out of the room, how warm/sunny of a window you choose, etc have major effects upon how well this works. Other reviewers have already given lengthy descriptions of installation tips.

Well, the first thing about this unit that I am REALLY disappointed in is the Remote. It does not work unless you are standing directly in front of the unit. This kind of defeats the purpose for having a remote in the first place, especially if it is being used in the bedroom. Considering the price of this fan, I am really surprised that Vornado does not have a better remote available for this unit. It would be nice to have a remote that shows on the remote what settings the fan is on. If you are looking for a remote controlled fan for your bedroom or other room that is not in a window directly in front of you then this may not be the fan for you until there is an upgrade in the remote. Come on Vornado, please upgrade your tech! If you have metal windows, you won't be able to keep the screen on if you install it in the bottom channel, as directed. I had to set the bottom lip under the fan on the inside window sill/stool just in front of the metal window frame, otherwise, I would have had to remove the screen to make it fit. It will be interesting to see if it leaks onto the sill if it rains. It is a pain to have to take the fan out of the window when it rains. One of the reasons I purchased this is because it is marketed as weather resistant. I will follow up on this review after it rains to determine if it can be left in the window. The air flow is pretty good but the TURBO setting is not as strong as expected. I like the temp control feature but I will have to test this out a little more before I know for sure that it works as stated. I love that his fan is relatively quiet and the low profile doesn't block the outside view. & the exhaust feature is a plus to be able to pull stale air and excess heat out of the room. Well, that's it for now. I will follow up after a few more days after it rains. For now, 3 star review is mostly due to the limitations of the remote. UPDATE 4/2/22 : The fan can stay in the window when it rains without leaking. That's a plus! In my area, I have thick yellow pollen so I purchased PollenTec Clean Air Window Screen Air Purifying Filter Material and cut it to the height of the fan and the width of the window. Since the back of the fan fits snugly against the window screen & due to the closed sides and the way the back of the fan is made it fits perfectly between the window screen & the back of the fan to act as a pollen filter without hindering the air flow or letting in pollen around the edges. It can be easily cleaned if it gets clogged by removing it and spraying it with water. The thermostat is not so accurate, but can be tolerated. This fan could use a bit of updating with the remote and thermostat but all in all it meets my needs. It probably won't work well for a room larger then 12 X14.

Definitely an improvement. My bedroom gets so hot in the summer, even with the AC going. It’s on the north-west corner of our house but heats up like crazy during the day. My alarm clock has a built-in thermometer and the room is usually at least a few degrees warmer than the rest of the house. It can get over 80°F in there at night. (Even in the dead of winter, 20°F outside, I often have to crack the window for a few hours, or it’ll be too hot to sleep.) This fan looks nice. It’s decently quiet. And moves air nicely. I usually use the exhaust setting just to keep the air moving. But in the evening, I’ll switch it to draw cool air in for a few hours before bed. The foam gap-inserts meant to fill in the gaps around the sides are just… dumb. The way they’re designed, they aren’t universal and they don’t fit my window AT ALL. There are 3 different sizes, but if the space you need to fill isn’t exactly in full-inches, you’re going to have a gap of whatever remaining the partial inch happens to be (1/4, 1/2, 3/4” etc). Mine has about 1/2” gap, so I had to space out the inserts carefully. Because they don’t fit my window, they don’t want to stay up either; they kept falling back against the screen behind the fan. Took me ages to get it all in and “stable.” The thermostat is handy. But… it has issues. I don’t know where it’s placed but I’m not sure it’s in a very good spot: The inside temperature can be 80°F, but if the outside temp is 59°, the fan won’t kick on because it’s reading the outside temp. The auto-fan temperature setting also only goes down to 60°. So while your room may be too hot, if it’s only 59° outside, it’ll be reading the external temperature and won’t automatically turn on. That’s a bit annoying. Where I live, the nighttime temperatures often get quite low, even if it was 90°F all day. Pros: It’s versatile, looks nice, the noise isn’t too disruptive, and it’s pretty powerful. It works well and is a pretty good improvement over the standard, dual-blade window fans on the market. The remote control is also very handy. (It’s part of what tipped the scale between this fan and another brand, tbh.) And the manufacturer warranty is pretty decent. (I also bought an extended warranty though.) Cons: The gap-filler inserts are really only suitable for whatever, very specific window the company used as a template. If you have older or “non-standard” (whatever “standard” even is right now), expect to have to fuss with them and probably have gaps due to their limitations. (I’m not sure why they decided that the usual accordion-style extenders were less preferable. Feels a bit like they decided “reinventing the wheel,” so-to-speak, was a “good idea” in this case. It usually isn’t.) Finally, the thermostat is placed in such a way that it often reads the temperature outside, instead of the temperature inside the room you want to regulate. If it’s too hot inside, but the outdoor temperature is low, the thermostat becomes useless; you’ll have to switch it to manual operation.

I love this unit! Very light white noise, super efficient at bringing in cool night or morning air or exhausting the heat of the day from a room that has poor air circulation. I run it 24/7. I will likely get another one. Sure beats the cost of running an air conditioner. On cool air intake, you get a wide strong flow of fresh air even on low setting. I haven’t used the remote but the digital panel is simple to use.

This a wonderful window fan. It is self contained and weatherproof and as such it it remains in my window for the spring-summer-fall duration. It can pull air out of your room or bring air in and has a temperature control for when things cool off at night. The remote works well and the unit moves a large volume of air quietly. I have had this unit for just over three years and found it utterly reliable. The complete lit comes with solid foam inserts for sealing to a window. In my case they had included two 1" inserts and it fir a 27" window perfectly. Install takes a few minutes. Highly recommended.

I've had my unit running almost continually during summer months (May-Sept) for two years. Its still reasonably quiet and hasn't started making an high pitch 'wine' sounds. Some recommendations. Use metallic tape on the outside to reflect the suns heat. Continuous hot sun on black doesn't exactly have a 'cooling' effect. My window screen is in the way when this is installed. I got around this by buying a small roll of replacement window screen, creating one that fits the device, and its worked well. If you have access to plastic corrugate sheets, it works really well for creating an 'adapter' thats more of an air-tight fit between the edges of the unit and the window. The remote is cheap but works well enough if you want to avoid walking over to control the flow.
