Works Well With HomeKit-Aware Devices - IR Blaster A Bonus
This hub makes a solid connection to my 2.4 gHz WiFi network and provides good coverage. Most (and so far for me, all) Aqara smart items bridged through it can be addressed in HomeAssistant through the HomeKit integration. No need to bother with Matter - unless you want to. The IR blaster, however, only functions with the phone app and does not expose paired items with HomeAssistant - and that it's only minus in my opinion. However, as I view the IR blaster as a nice bonus, and not core to the product I didn't dock the item a star in my rating. However, if the IR blaster were to be exposed - now, that would be something special! Devices are easy to set up and this hub performs a good as advertised. It's price point makes it a good choice for any home wanting to add good Zigbee coverage for the Aqara ecosystem. Nice. Also, note that I run this hub alongside another Zigbee coordinator (a USB stick) and both networks function without issue even though my 2.4 gHz spectrum is pretty saturated with competing networks. Again, nice!

So Complicated to set up with a simple solution
This is a combo review with the Aqara u100 smart lock. This took me hours to set up. I bought the Aqara Smart Hub and Aqara u100 smart lock together. The lock was easy to install onto the door and paired up to the app so fast. I got HomeKit connected to the lock with no problems. I could NOT get the hub to connect to HomeKit. This took me such a long time to figure out. Turns out, you need to have your Apple hub set up and turned on. The documentation didn't say this and the Home and Aqara apps did not say to do this. I had no idea until hours of attempts. Make sure HomeKit hub is turned on and Home is set up. Connect the lock through the Apple Home app. Download Aqara app and go into settings, HomeKit, and bind the hub to the aqara app. Then you can start tweaking the settings to get the home app integration set up. You can unlock your door with password, fingerprint, hard key, NFC, via app, widget, or other assistants. This is amazing stuff! I'm transitioning from Yale x Nest which is awful. I would unlock the door and it would immediately notify me that no one is home and tells me to lock the door... It would tell me the door was unlocked when I'm staring at a locked door. The lock would get jammed constantly but ONLY when unlocking with the app after manually locking the door from the inside. Something about the knob causes a jam. This is a widely known issue with Yale x Nest owners and none of the fixes work.

Works as expected.
I did not use the WiFi connectivity. I preferred using the wired connection. Attaching the device to Apple HomeKit was easy. Though, a little disappointment with the integration to HomeKit : this device seems turning around a Security System. Not like the Hue bridge from Philips, you don’t find your hub. And if you delete from HomeKit the security system, all the sensor disappears. This is a bad integration. Also, temperature sensors that are added on the hub are shown in the same room as the hub. Be sure to name your sensor accordingly to their respective room if you want to know where these are installed. Conclusion, the hub is doing its job, but very poor integration to Apple HomeKit. No room sync between the Aqara Home app and the Apple Home app. The Aqara Home app seems having less functionalities regarding the Xiaomi app which is supposed to be compatible. No sensor battery status on the Aqara Home app. Need to check this on the Apple Home app. A big effort for Apple HomeKit integration is required. PS, after the sensors have been added, it’s impossible to move them to another room. I therefore deleted the hub from HomeKit and reattached it in a room called Aqara (in Home App). Maybe it is possible while you’re adding the sensors to add them one by one and move the hub from room to room before adding the sensor, and maybe the sensor will be attached to the proper room. Something to try if you have time.

Aqara stands by their products.
I bought the M2 hub about a month ago opened it 2 weeks later because I was moving. Setup was a breeze, then the next day it was offline line no problem saw there was a firmware update did it worked for about 2 days now it stays offline will not reboot by hold the button. Even when unplugged and waiting to reconnect it boots back to offline. Customer service? Ha put in a ticket received a response the next day asking for information. Sent it didn't hear back from them again until 4 days later after I put in another ticket and then they asked to connect to the hub all I have to do is go into the hub messages and give approval. Problem there's no message. So I'm still stuck with a non functional hub. Edit 10/30. Barry was very helpful in troubleshooting the problem I was having. He went through every possible solution to get it back up and running before it was ruled dead. Aqara sent out a replacement and it works as intended. Which is good because I really like they're products. Finished setting up my door and motion sensors. Leak detectors and plugs. I'll be added their present sensor soon.

Simply Does Not Work Right
As of today, we're ripping all aqara devices off my network and throwing them away. Never, and I mean never will I give my money for this garbage. I would resell my devices, but I wouldn't put that trouble on anyone else. I'm tired of them being the continuous problem. The A1 and M2 hubs go offline randomly. My current hub won't let me change the Wi-Fi without a full reset, meaning I'll have to re-pair all the child devices again, manually. Is that quality programming? Is that consumer focused? The sensors have nowhere near the range that they say, and the mesh doesn't work. I have a lot of different vendors equipment offering off the Wi-Fi but it's only Aqara that can't seem to manage its connection. The device ranges laughable and the integrations are joke. This is not serious equipment for serious people. Aqara if you read this, you need to do a ton more testing before you release devices. There hasn't been a single device of yours that I've put in my house that hasn't been a giant pain in the butt. Amazon devices, I plug them in and they just work. That's why you're losing.

Bought for Siri voice command TV IR Control
I bought this product for one reason, the 360 degree IR blaster and HomeKit connectivity so that I can add Siri commands and use my HomePod to control my LG tv. This is all I tested so I cannot review it’s connectivity to other devices, but for this… IT’S PERFECT! Admittedly, the setup is a bit weird (did not know it would speak to me lol 😂 ) and very clunky, so don’t get frustrated, but if you spend the time, it is worth it. Here is what I did: ——————————————— I’ll assume you have the device connected to your network and setup, and are in the Aqara App. Add your device. First you want to add your device(s). I.e. my LG Tv Don’t worry about Automation. For this you won’t go here, I assume you can setup other devices you connect automations here. For this, You want “Scenes” So this is where the setup is weird and clunky. You need to manually add each action you want (Tv volume up etc.). Yea, this is tedious but necessary. Basically what we are doing is creating a HomeKit scene for each action that will sink to your Home App. This sounds weird but works surprisingly well. Click Add Scene. You will see your TV, then remote, then alllll your remote options. Pick the first one you want. When naming each action, give it a device name then the action. I named my TV “El G”, so my scenes were named “El G Volume Up” “El G On” etc. Yes you have to do every action you want. **do not name it just “Volume Up” as Siri will just turn the HomePod up, thus the TV Name first. Once you have all the TV controls you want set up as scenes, click Edit at the bottom and you will see the option to sync with the MyHome app. Done! You will see all the crazy amount of scenes you just created synced in your MyHome App. Now when you say “Siri El G Volume Up” Boom, tv turns up!! TIPs *you can add delays and additional actions in each scene. I added a second volume up so the scene would turn my tv up 2 notches instead of just 1. **my tv controls my soundbar so I did not need to add that as a device. You may need to if you control your speakers separately ***you will see a Siri circle on the right in the Aqara app, if you select that you can record your own Siri command! Cheers.

It's very tricky to setup, but it's the only option I found to use their smart switches
I setup it up with eero pro 6e. The process is frustrated. I tried to use eero app's trouble shooting functions to: 1. temporarily disable 5ghz 2. turn legacy mode on which suppose to works better with those old devices. But it stuck at the Apple Home Kit setup step when the app is passing the network information to the device. It tells me it failed to add this accessory, and the error is "network credential generation failed". I kind of stuck, and then I found on the top right corner of the app there's a setup mode switch I can use bluetooth for the setup. Using that option and manually type-in my wifi password it works! Later I also get it work with my wired network, which need to stay closer to my router, but I don't need to worry the wifi stops working suddenly. Oh, forgot to mention I was using iPhone for the setup, and I'd like to connect the Aqara eco-system to my Home Kit. If you can set it up with something like Android, or using other smart device eco-system then my experience may not apply to you. I'm just commenting this product is an hustle to set up on eero and Apple Home Kit combination. Hope this helps to you. I also don't understand why Aqara don't offer a newer product as the gateway to their smart switches, I really like their offering of no-neutrual wire required switches (cheaper than lutron).

Easy setup and linking of Roller Shade Driver E1 including scheduling
I'm not sure why others have mentioned that's it's difficult to setup and configure because I had it up and running in about 2 minutes and had linked my motorised blinds (Roller Shade Driver E1) and set a schedule for them in about 5 minutes and I've never used such a device before. I am however very 'tech-savey' so maybe it's just easy for me. I'll update if any issues occur, but for now - excellent.
