Chinese Herbs - reputable brand.
I’ve had Aura herbs before, bought from a professional Chinese Medicine medical site, so I know they’re a reputable brand and well thought of. The listing for these (Liu Wei Di Huang Tang) only says ‘boosts energy’ - I know you have to be careful these days with making medical claims. For this reason, it would be difficult for someone who isn’t sure what these herbs actually DO to make a choice, and perhaps they shouldn’t really, unless they know what they can do, or have been diagnosed properly. I understand the Chinese Medicine disagnostic terminology behind these and so am happy to try this particular formula as I know it will be a good match for my ‘patterns’. For all those reasons all I can really say relates to the tablets themselves. They’re lozenge shaped and pretty flat, not too big, and with a very smooth surface - not chalky at all. They’re essentially pressed powdered herbs. They’re very easy to swallow. In terms of smell and taste, they’re rather licquorice-y, which is kind of a given with most Chinese herbs - I think it’s often added for flavour. There is no aftertaste however. They’re pretty pricey as this bottle is really only a 10-15 day supply depending on how many you take daily, but, if they work for you, it could be a good bet. Chinese herbs aren’t a ‘supplement’ as in to be taken daily forever and so you’d perhaps only need a couple of months supply, thereby making them more affordable.

This TCM is for your Kidneys. Just beware of the trust cost!
Since there is a lack of information regarding this Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) on Aura's advert for Liu Wei Di Huang Tang (六味地黄丸), I will write a short report on it so people know what they are actually buying. In English, it is commonly known as "Six Flavour Rehmannia Pills": Liu Wei Di Huang Tang is a traditional Chinese herbal formula used in TCM for over 1000 years. It is composed of six key ingredients, each with unique properties aimed at restoring balance and harmony within the body. Composition: The formula contains the following six primary herbs: (NOTE: I had to double check the ingredients on the packaging to cross reference the Chinese name and they appear to be the same) - Shu Di Huang (Rehmannia Root): Known for its nourishing properties, Shu Di Huang tonifies the Kidneys and replenishes Yin. - Shan Yao (Chinese Yam): Shan Yao is valued for its ability to tonify the Spleen and Stomach, as well as nourish Yin and generate fluids. - Shan Zhu Yu (Cornus Fruit): Shan Zhu Yu helps to secure and astringe Yin, while also restraining the leakage of fluids. - Ze Xie (Alisma Rhizome): Ze Xie promotes urination and drains Dampness, thereby supporting the Kidneys and Bladder. - Mu Dan Pi (Tree Peony Root Bark): Mu Dan Pi cools the Blood and dispels Stasis, addressing symptoms of heat and inflammation. - Fu Ling (Poria): Fu Ling strengthens the Spleen and resolves Dampness, facilitating the movement of fluids throughout the body. Therapeutic Actions: Liu Wei Di Huang Tang is primarily indicated for patterns of Kidney Yin deficiency, which may manifest as symptoms such as: Lower back pain Dizziness Tinnitus Night sweats Dry mouth and throat Thirst Hot flashes Insomnia Urinary frequency or incontinence Menstrual irregularities Clinical Evidence: Numerous studies have investigated the efficacy of Liu Wei Di Huang Tang in various conditions. For example: - Research published on Google Scholar demonstrated the formula's effectiveness in alleviating symptoms of menopausal syndrome, including hot flashes and night sweats. - A study found on PubMed stated that Liu Wei Di Huang Tang exhibited anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects in animal models. Clinical trials have also shown promising results in the management of chronic kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, and age-related macular degeneration. Whilst the above seems promising, beware that the mechanisms of TCM are not fully understood in a clinical setting. I will mention other problems with TCM in the dosage section below. Dosage and Administration: The recommended dosage of Liu Wei Di Huang Tang may vary depending on the individual's constitution and the severity of symptoms. Typically, the formula is taken in the form of pills or decoction, with dosages ranging from 6 to 12 grams per day, divided into two or three doses. I can confirm that this is actually the case for Aura's formula as their description has stated exactly this. But this is the problem with TCM, needs to be taken frequency and a lot of it so it could end up being very expensive fast. So this 60 tablet tub will only last 10 days!!!! Granted you don't need to take these continuously month on month but to do a month of this will cost you £73.50!!! (at time of review, £24.50 each). In conclusion, Liu Wei Di Huang Tang is a time-tested herbal formula with a rich history of use in TCM. Its unique combination of ingredients offers a holistic approach to restoring balance and promoting overall health and well-being. However, further research is needed to fully elucidate its mechanisms of action and therapeutic potential in different clinical settings.
