Beautiful and it glides
Beautiful and it glides. That is what first impressed me. Its almost like a long spider thread from a web. Its so light weight that it floats. The color is vibrant and there are so many colors. I approached each skein slowly and within a room with lots of light. I put Bath and Body brand lotion on the 24 hour moisture kind. Then I gently pull on one of the hank colors and the whole hank of that color just gilded out. I then saw the tiny little loosely knotted thread on the hank and I tested each line gently to see which one to pull so that it would not form a hard knot. It just glided apart and then I had a long loop of wispy silk around my two hands. I laid each loop around two separated glasses that I had set on the table and then I started loosely winding the single thread from the loop around a piece of cardboard that I had cut from a Jello gelatin carton. I sat and did this for each lovely color. I like using this silk floss for the stem stitch. It is just so delicate and vibrant . My friends loved the gifts that I made them for Easter and I loved working with this floss. I had to become calm and patient and relaxed and that was just excellent for me just what I needed. I am going to buy more its therapeutic.

Perfect for me! Maybe not for those who canโt handle a little bit of tangles.
I received these in the mail a few weeks ago and I couldnโt be more happy. The delivery takes a while since itโs shipped from China but it arrived right when the estimated delivery date was, and with this affordable price, it was worth the wait. These silk threads are so vibrant and pretty! I ordered them to make headbands for handmade books, but I can imagine it will be beautiful as an embroidery. It comes with 10 color coordinated bundles that has 5 different colors, giving you 50 colors total. The bundles easily come apart into separate colors. Like others said in the reviews, it is pretty easy to get tangled and because they have such fine fiber and can get snagged on plastic edges or even hang nails and dry skin. But as long as you are patient and you take your time itโll be fine. In fact, I kind of find it therapeutic to unravel the threads and wrapping them around a bobbin by hand. Plus, you really canโt beat this price for such quality threads. But after all, if you get irritated or inpatient easily, or simply donโt have time to spare, then this is not for you and youโre probably better off paying a bit more for something easier to manage.

Beautiful silk thread. Don't let the negative reviews turn you away!
This silk floss is gorgeous! And the price is very good as well. The colors are so beautiful and silky and shiny. I think it's a real shame that it has so many low-star reviews because people don't know how to work with 100% silk thread. Yes, it's sticky but all silk thread is. Yes, it snags but it just as easily unsnags by brushing the thread with your fingers. I live in the desert and have massive issues with my skin peeling around my nails and the tips of my fingers but I am not having any more trouble with the thread snagging on my skin than I do with cottonhread. Nor am I having any more trouble dealing with untangling this thread than I do with regular cotton thread. In fact, when I get knots in this thread I can actually untangle it because it is so silky. I cannot do that with cotton thread. Dont let the bad reviews sway you. If you are interested in dipping your toes in traditional Chinese silk embroidery, this silk floss bundle is a great way to start, even if you get a kit that includes it's own silk thread. I highly recommend it.

The only positive aspect of this floss is its brilliant and vibrant color
The only positive aspect of this floss is its brilliant and vibrant color. Other than that, it is almost impossible to unravel from the tightly bound skein. Because of the variety of silk, it catches on any surface, gets its microscopic strands entangled with any surface, and frays or bunches with the slightest disturbance. The ends are almost impossible to find making the process of winding the thread on bobbins extremely difficult. It is pretty but almost impossible to use for hand embroidery.

GREAT COLORS - TANGLED SKEINS
The colors were wonderful - rich and vibrant. But the skeins arrived very tangled and it is definitely a labor-intensive project to get them untangled. I ended up having to cut the silk several times before I had it all untangled. Wish there was some way they could wrap the silk around a card or something to avoid the tangling.

Patience is a Virtue
This silk floss is gorgeous. It does come in the plastic bag with 5 groupings with 5 hanks in each. They are loosely knotted into the color groupings. Once you get that knot out (gently) take each color and find the center of the loop, separate the floss so that each side of the loop is in each hand. Gently pull away from each other and the small slip knot in each individual color pulls right out and then you can wind them onto bobbins and I would wind these as opposed to any other storage solution. Yes, it's work. No, it's not impossible. People that actually threw this out rather than taking the time to unwind it were lazy, too rough or have no idea how slip knots work. In short, this is beautiful silk thread at a reasonable price that is perfectly serviceable provided you take your time, are gentle and use your patience. If you don't have patience then don't buy this, you will be disappointed. Just pay the extra and buy silk floss that's prepped how you like it. For the rest of you, give it a try. Might be the best craft purchase I've found yet this year. One note: if your hands are dry, chapped or even just rough this floss will catch on every little spot it can as you prepare and use it, perhaps latex gloves would be helpful while prepping the floss.

So glad I didn't listen to the nay sayers
I decided to jump right in and try silk after being far away from needle work for decades. After buying the many packs I then decided to read some reviews. I read mostly the bad reviews first and then got scared. I couldn't stop the delivery so I thought well, I can at least look at them before I decide. I then read the positive reviews. Thank you to those who took the time to explain how to unwrap them and handle the silk. It seemed to me easy, as they described the process. The floss arrived yesterday and I sat down and open one pave of loosely knotted thread. The knot, was barely a knot and it slid apart with east. I made sure I had no rough nails and that my skin was smooth. I easily slid one knotted end color away from the rest of the bundle by pulling the know slowly down and away, the one skein(PS) or knotted color easily pulled away with no tangling or knotting. I continued on and learned quickly how the silk works. It works easily if you pay attention and do not force anything. I was so surprised it was so easy, after reading the negative reviews I then smoothed one color of thread out at a time. Put the non-knotted end against a thread wrapping card. Wrapped the thread around and used the knotted end to secure it in place in the slit. I then packaged same colors together in sandwich baggies and packed them in a see through storage bin. I figure I will then work on getting the threads I need from them when I will use them. Beautiful colors lovely sheen and the feel is wonderful. I also got some silk ribbon ordered as well. I am going to love working with this thread. I love it already.

Absolute nightmare!!!
The colors are beautiful but they absolutely threw the mess in a bag for me and my sister to deal with. Two hours later and I give up and sending the mess back.

Very hard to work with.
I have man types of silk thread. This is almost impossible to work with, the colours run and I wasted most of the thread as it frays and catches on everything then tangles too easily. A nightmare.

Experience needed to work with these silks
Lost 1 star for packaging and another for duplicating colours. 3 pinks and 2 oranges duplicated. Also no blues in this package. Apart from that very useful to have as it is thicker than my usual pure silks that I use. Probably, overall, worth the money. Just a pain to unravel. If you do not wind them onto plastic bobbins they will become unusable very quickly. Plenty of patience needed for these silks.

Nice gradations of colour
Lustrous. Nice gradations of colour. For patient and smooth fingers, the loosely twisted thread can get caught easily.

bad quality
It's not thread, can't be used. It has been chucked. It's a risk shopping online without seeing the stuff you buy.
