Genuinely dimmable LED replacement for halogen uplighter
We have an uplighter standard lamp with a dimmer-control, which uses a halogen R7S style bulb. These halogen bulbs are very power inefficient and run very hot so I was keen to find a low energy replacement. This product is a little bit pricey for a single bulb but it fits the bill perfectly. I was concerned that any LED replacement would not be happy with the dimmer control and there would be flickering or fading, but no this is absolutely fine. Indeed it is actually better than the original halogen as it retains its colour balance when dimmed whilst the original turns increasingly orange. Another benefit is that the new led bulb is much quieter when dimmed - just the faintest buzz. The original halogen would whine quite annoyingly at anything but the the brightest settings. The bulb is physically bulkier than the original. So much so that the glass heat-guard no longer fits over it. But, as the guard is no longer needed with the cool running LED replacement, I was happy to discard it. Provided this bulb gives the promised 15000 hours of life then, whilst expensive, I think it is well worth the money.

It's dimmable and is LED but don't expect same brightness
After trying a few of these LED's R7S, this is the first one that works with my dimmable lamp. Its a bit more expensive but cheaper ones usually flicker and this one doesn't. The only downside is that is no way the same brightness that i used to have with a standard halogen and it doesn't dim as low as the halogen did, but is a good trade in my opinion as it uses a fraction of the power compared to the halogens. My halogen used an average of 7 kwh where this one is a mere 1, not even that, which in the current climate for me is very important. I would recommend.

Excellent quality dimmable and non flickering LED light.
Excellent quality replacement for my uplighter. It is much brighter than the previous one and it is dimmable. No flickering either. A bit expensive but I trust Philips brand.

Great energy saving bulb
I hunted high and low for an energy saving bulb that would fit my mother/daughter light. I'm glad to say that this bulb: a)fit in (I had to remove the glass cover, but that was no longer required given this is LED and not a filament bulb) b) It turned off (a cheaper alternative I tried did not!) c) Did not flicker (a cheaper alternative I tried was constantly flickering) d) Was dimmable So all in all, you get what you pay for!

Flickering straight away
Unbearable flickering straight away. Switching from a halogen bulb to LED, and the reviews suggested this one wasn't as bad as others for flickering but it lasted only 5 minutes before turning my living room into a strobe light show. I'm not even trying to have the light dimmed, just at full brightness and it still happens

Works well & cheaper than halogen
Simple to fit, nice white light - seems bluer than 3000k - certainly not the warm halogen glow. However it dims & that was the main point for me: I can have it bright when I need & lower for movies. No flicker, no noise - just works very well.

it is a dimmable light - that actually dims without flickering
over the years I've tried many 'dimmable' LED replacements for applications and found most tend to flicker if they work at all. Philips has a good name historically so, although quite expensive, I decided to give it a go. Some of the images of cheaper unknown brand LEDs put me off those. I've not used the light much but when I turn it on it comes on and the brightness can be varied without any signs of a flicker and so far no problems. it's bright enough for the room. There is a little bit of electronic buzz from the dimmer unit on my light but it is not that noticeable and to be fair I can't remember if it made the same noise with the halogen anyway.

Not really ok.
Unfortunately is not really working in my lamp, like I expected. It's OK when dimmer switch is on fully, but when I try dimming then in meny position start flicking, also I have been expected warm color and this really is day light color. I thought that the Philips brand could handle it, but I was disappointed and spent £ 15 unnecessarily. Now I have to go back to the old type of halogen filament.

Birne passt in einen Strahler aus von 1986. Alter Dimmer funktioniert bestens ohne flimmern. Helligkeit ebenfalls gut.
