CompTIA Server+ Study Guide: Exam SK0-004

Not only did I pass, I aced it (853/900). This book was readable, stuck to the exam objectives, and my Server+ certification package from CompTIA is proof that it works. Yes, I do have nearly 20 years experience in IT, but it has not been contiguous, and a lot of it has been for terrible companies. I am trying to get my career back on track with some new certifications, and I'm happy to say that Troy McMillan's book did not disappoint. This was the only source I used for study. This cert will also give you good foundations to earn, or renew, other certs like Security+, Storage+, and even Linux+ (though don't think you'll pass Linux+ just because you learned all of the Linux information here - you won't!). I retook Network+ in 2016, having originally earned it back when they were "for life" in 2007) and was pleasantly surprised to learn that passing Server+ also extended my Net+, so I am "Net+ CE" until 2022 as well. Do yourself a favor if you're looking for a better job, and get your Server+.

I really like this book very easy to understand and lay out very well. It's a great study aid for exam. Need to find more time to study more to take exam since it expires this year.

So this book is for IT personnel who have had no physical experience to this area of IT. Disliked that there were no kind of pre-setup instructions prior to beginning the exercises, if you are looking for that get the ALL-IN-ONE Mcgraw Hill book. I was hoping for this one to show detailed photograph examples of the internal hardware of the servers for rackmount and Blade, also variations of the different SANS out there. Also it give a scenario mission to get the reader jump started into the material and keep it along the way. Teaching/learning can be more fun that way. Would be great if extra material can be added to the book as for showing a bit of a detail on a data center row for infrastructure layout is like IT enterprise for 1000 users, by showing how many servers for each role and etc. Lastly have on a disk or online access to standardized IT documentation from start to finish of a server life cycle. It will really help with the day to day tech role and when we pursue our Bachelor Degrees. Mention thru out the text with more business details involved from IT PM perspective too.

Excellent book for passing the exam. Short, clear, very straight forward explanation. You will absolutely pass the exam using only this book. There are some areas for improvement like typos, but it is understandable because Mr. Macmillan is writing several books simultaneously. The exam will ask a few questions about electricity, like 48DC for telephony, how to test power overload, that are not found on the book. But you will still pass if you skip those questions.

I passed my cert exam!!! This book has all the concepts I used to build my knowledge for the Server+ exam. And it also came with a discount voucher on the exam! Nothing beats this..

Let me state that I haven't finished this book yet. However I've been keeping a running track of the errors found in this book. I'm sure the content is mostly accurate to the test for certification, so I've given this 3 stars. However the author or publisher should not let so many errors through.

It's one useful book to have presently, if you're interested to work in a Datacenter, this will guide you through the misteries that lies beyond work stations, and that's the powerful Server :)
