Men's Ironman Triathlon Classic 100 44mm Watch

This is already my 2nd TIMEX which I use for my swimming practices.. This one beats the older model (Timex 51931 Ironman Triathlon) with some interesting changes: 1) The larger digits on this model makes it easier to read the numbers (as some mentioned to do so when running) even when I am swimming, with a quick flick of the wrist at the turn, it's possible to see the minutes and the seconds.... The older model had smaller number, thus not making it possible to do this. 2) The navigation on this model became quite easier. It was already easy on the older model but this one included instructions on screen, such as NEXT, DONE, + or - in order to advance with your practices and training... Plus a chance to change the way you want to see the information of the your laps (Laps in the big digits and splits at the smaller one, or the oposite) A Real nice add on by TIMEX. 3) A simple but effective wrist band "clip" (the tiny piece of strap that attachs the "extra" wrist band that is left after you put the clock on) It has a piece of rubber on the inside that locks on at the wrist band and does not make it loose or even letting it go as some other watches do sometimes. This is more effective underwater I think, as it remains the way you set your wrist, as the older model I had did not quite held in place all the time. 4) Plenty of memory (100 laps is really a nice number), maybe more then most will need but, as a swimmer I use to count splits over 100m (or yards) with many laps during one training... It is quite usefull. I go easily on 10 to 15 laps of the memory in one training. And with the date feature, that reminds when you did these times, it is quite usefull to keep track on the training with a spreadsheet, for instance... (as I do !) 5) A really big START/SPLIT buttom that is great to press when I am swimming laps and have to press myself at each turn at the pool. Just perfect. Never a miss ! And the feature which was already at most of the models, of the repeat countdown, and the start of a chrono, or a repeat (what I use the most) in order race agains your average rhitym inside a certain time frame that you can set it up ! And of course the flix technology, which is very good to have it... Just flick your wrist (when you set it to ON) and it will show you at night all info that you need. It is another great watch from TIMEX and it deserves a look, specially for the price. It is worth to pay a bit more if you are like me and uses a lot of the memory for the laps on swimming pool. Maybe for runners it can be quite a lot of memory, but the price difference is worth the change, for some of the options mentioned at this review. This is a really good watch to have.. Will you definatelly like as we all are at these reviews. :-) It deserves the 5 stars rating !

Great watch, as a trainer it has everything you need if you don’t want to be distracted with notifications. Best part is the interval timers & stop watch. It did come with the indiglo button rolling around in the box… I popped it back on and it seems secure now… we’ll see. I have 2 Ironman 30’s and they are awesome as well… just doesn’t have the interval timer like the 100 series.

I've owned about 6 of these over the years and two things are the only weak points. First the lens/crystal/display window is very soft and scratches almost instantly. Second it is near impossible to change the battery because of how the watch bands are designed. I took it to a jeweler. and even he wouldn't try it. Claimed they were misery to change and would cost more than the watch.

I have to admit to being a bit of a watch fiend, having one for almost everything I do, but this is one of the most useful, yet cheaper priced items I've come to enjoy. When I work out I like as much information as I can get, so for running and biking I have a watch for that, but for swimming I needed a watch to help me count my laps and log my times. The Timex Ironman 100-lap watch does this quite well. I first got a Timex 50-Lap watch that I was able to find locally, but 50 laps is very limiting so when I found this watch for less money and a bigger face that had the lap/split time and lap number on the screen at all times I knew I had a great product. When you're finished with your laps just save your workout. The watch will then calculate some information like average lap time and best lap. I haven't completely messed with their data, but I think they average your times by throwing out the lap times that are the outliers, which is good for the accidental laps where you hit the wrong button, but it's not as great when you did a few sprint laps and they don't show up as your best time. If your best time isn't on there you can still recall it by going through each lap individually, but I think my sprint laps sometimes aren't listed as my best laps. I haven't messed with this feature much because it isn't important to me, and removing the outliers is good for looking at your actual pace. I have been able to push myself a bit more in the pool by having actual numbers to compare, which is very helpful. The other features on this watch I haven't used much, but for someone who can't afford a GPS watch and can use maps or a track this watch would be great for running or anything with laps or intervals. It has up to 9 interval timers and once finished it can either stop or repeat the sequence. It can do what's called chrono at the end, where it just switches to the chronograph feature after your timer or interval timers are finished. Overall this is a great watch and for most people who enjoy doing anything with laps look no further.

I bought my first one of these shortly before running my first marathon, so that I could keep good track of my pace. Now in addition to race days it is an essential training tool for me. I check where the mile points are before going for a long run and check on my pacing. It's also great for interval training. The display is easy to read and the various buttons and functions are easy to figure out and use. I travel a lot internationally, and it has also become a great casual travel watch. The 2nd time zone setting is helpful, and especially being able to set a quick alarm has prevented me from accidentally missing a flight because I dozed off in the airport lounge. This is my 2nd time buying the exact same model. The battery on the first one died after almost exactly two years. I knew I could send it back to Timex for a new battery for $10, but I had a half-marathon coming up in a few days and wouldn't get it back in time, so I went to a local watch/jewelry place instead. They replaced the battery for $5 and it worked fine, but I don't think they got the waterproof seal re-inserted correctly, because when I got caught in a downpour the watch stopped working*. With another race coming up I searched the available options for new watches, and this is still the best model for my needs. One thing I will do differently is send the watch to Timex when the battery dies, as I expect they'll do a better job re-seating the waterproof seal. I got a prepaid mailer box from my local running store. *I put the soaked watch in a ziplock bag with some white rice and a dessicant packet. After a couple days (changing to fresh rice once a day) the watch display re-appeared just like new. In fact, it was only the display that stopped working, because it was still showing the correct time and had my mile split times up to the point it got soaked. I still wouldn't trust it around water, and I was going to keep it as a backup "dry weather" watch, but then my teenage asked for it so I gave it to him.

I will start my review with an admission: I hate digital watches. I think 7-segment numbers look ugly, and I prefer the ability to see the 'distance' between times visually that you get with an analog face. But I needed the timer and lap counter for my job, and I have always wanted to do interval training to improve my speed and endurance while cycling. This watch had everything I needed and more. I was aware that Timex was a respected brand, and the T5E231 was the only watch in my price range with the ability to count 199 laps. I have to say, though, that after a week of use, I actually love this watch. Not only does it meet my needs functionally, but it actually brings me pleasure to wear it and operate it. The yellow trim around the inside of the bezel clearly identifies it as a sport watch, yet it seems to fit in well in formal settings. The interface is incredibly user-friendly and satisfying to operate. I never thought I would refer to a watch's "interface", but this watch actually has one. Pressing most of the buttons results in actual text being displayed on the screen telling you what the button did, or what will happen if you hold that button down just a little longer. In most modes there are even little labels that appear on the screen by the buttons telling you what they do in that mode. Figuring out how to use almost all of the functions only required five minutes of random experimentation. The only thing I had to consult the manual about was how to switch the chronograph into lap counter mode. I just wish there instructions explaining how to fold the manual back into a size that fits inside the watch stand. There are so many little touches that make it clear the designers at Timex really take pride in their work. Here are my favorites: -When turning night mode on, the Indiglo lingers for another few seconds after releasing the button. But when turning it off, the light extinguishes immediately! It should, since if you are turning night mode off, it's probably daytime and you don't need the Indiglo anymore. -Being able to scroll numbers backwards and forwards while setting times. On other watches it is so frustrating to 'miss' the number you want and have to press the button 60 more times. -Little icons appear on the home screen letting you know if the timer, chronograph, or alarm is running in the background. Most watches only have an icon for the alarm. -The speaker plays a different sound for the alarm and the timer, so you know which one is going off without looking at the screen. Also the Indiglo light flashes. -The Indiglo system is clearly a masterwork of engineering. It looks evenly lit and is very easy to read, yet it doesn't illuminate anything other than the display (unlike the backlight on a phone, for example). This must save a lot of battery power, since lighting up other objects around the watch is a waste of electricity. Besides, you have your phone for that! -In timer mode, you can see what time the timer was originally set for on another line below the countdown. -The AM and PM appear in the same place on the display; there is just one little segment that lights up to turn the P into an A. -Many of the buttons that perform an irreversible or potentially unwanted function (such as resetting the chrono or clearing workout data) require being held down for several seconds so you don't trigger them accidentally. -The watch tells you how much memory is free for storing workouts. There is only one problematic thing about this watch (and it may actually be a problematic thing about myself). In order to activate the FLIX system I am required to wrench my arm so hard I nearly dislocate it. It is painful, and takes way more effort than just pressing the Indiglo button. This doesn't bother me, because I didn't buy this watch with the intention to ever use FLIX, but it is somewhat frustrating that it is so hard to use. However, it is possible that my technique is flawed, and there is an easier movement that will activate it. But I don't really want to experiment; I like my arm in its current uninjured state. In all, I am very satisfied with my purchase. I love everything it does, and the only 'negative' probably says more about me than it does about the watch. Considering my abhorrence of digital watches, I am surprised that I like this one so much. I don't plan to wear it any other time than while at work or working out, but for those times it is not only tolerable, but actually enjoyable. I highly recommend this watch!

I like this watch a lot. When it works it's great, but the number of functions it has is both a strength and a weakness. In previous watches of this type that I have owned, the Indiglo function -- the function to illuminate the watch face in the dark -- was the first function to fail. I could live with that, although it is an inconvenience. Ultimately, however, my experience has been that some other function fails -- outside of the warranty period -- and the watch has to be replaced. Earlier this week, however, I had a problem with my current Timex Ironman watch -- which I purchased slightly less than one year ago. The "mode" button on the watch -- which is used to change into stopwatch, interval or timer mode -- stopped working. The result was that I could not get out of "stopwatch" mode -- which meant that the watch was not useful to display the current time, or to do the other functions of this watch. Today, two days later, the watch has stopped working entirely and will not display anything on the watch face. Since the watch still is within the normal one-year Timex warranty, I called Timex to see if they would replace or repair the watch. They said that they would repair it. Unfortunately, they told me that their repair facility is now closed -- and has been closed for several months -- because of the pandemic and they don't know when it will reopen. They told me that I could mail in the watch for repairs but that it would take several months -- or longer -- before the watch would be repaired and returned to me. Thus, their warranty is not useful -- at least in the circumstances of the current pandemic. Thankfully, I purchased this watch using my AmEx card, which provides an extended warranty on purchases made with the card. When I told them of how Timex proposed to handle the problem -- a repair that would take several months or longer to complete -- AmEx notified me that they would credit my account with the amount of my initial purchase price. Based on my experience with the watch, I have several comments for those considering purchasing it. First, it is a very useful watch because of the multiple functions that it can perform. Second, the number of function it can perform make it subject to eventual failure. Third, even if that failure occurs within the warranty period, don't count on Timex to provide an effective solution, at least during the Pandemic period. In my opinion, a repair that takes the watch out of the owner's hands for several months or longer is not a very effective warranty.

Die Uhr ist gut ablesbar, hat eine zweite Zeitzone, die mit einem Druck abrufbar ist. Außerdem gibt es einen Timer, einen Intervalltimer, der frei programmierbar ist und 5 Alarme. Auf Wunsch piept sie zur Vollen Stunde. Die Nacht-Beleuchtung ist gut! Das Zifferblatt zeigt Uhrzeit mit Sekunde, den Wochentag und das Datum an. Ich trage diese Uhr seit bestimmt 15 Jahren und bestelle sie mir immer wieder neu, wenn ich einmal das Zifferblatt zerkratzt habe. Es ist die perfekte Uhr für alle, die keine Smartwatch möchten aber ein gutes „Zeit-Werkzeug“ brauchen. Im Laufe der Jahre ist sie übrigens preiswerter geworden.😀 Im übrigen ist sie natürlich absolut wasserdicht. Ich kann den Kauf uneingeschränkt empfehlen!!!

Great watch: easy to see the numbers on the display. Simple set-up and robust. I have had this model for the last 18 years and will continue. The only issue can be that afterbattery exchange it may lose waterproof, to avoid that ask only the proffs to exchange the battery!
