Gold Standard as you know already
Exceptional paper at a price. I usually use Arches cold pressed paper so this is the first time I use rough. Depending on the subject I’m painting. Rough paper adds additional texture to brush strokes and marks aiding in expression of rugged terrains and plains. Recommended. Wish it was available in thicker options on Amazon AE.

Love these pre glued blocks
THE PAGES ARE NOT BLACK. YOU MUST REMOVE THE FIRST BLACK PAGE. My heart also skipped a beat. I use that black page frequently. When taking photos, as a separator, as a protector. I LOVE these pre glued blocks. It stops the worry of sticking the paper down, I’m no good at that. I would rather pay a little more for the glued block. Take care! There is a little slit at the top of the block you separate the pages with a palette knife, I use a guitar plectrum. The paper quality is fantastic, almost like cardboard when dry so really durable. It has a lovely texture. Once you get past the “phaff” of separating the glued pages, and learn a technique that makes it easier, it is fabulous to work with. True. It’s a bit pricey. I practise new ideas on another watercolour paper. I’m pretty sure I know what I’m going for by the time I use the pre glued block.

Great quality
Arches 140 pound cotton paper is the best for my watercolor painting. The paper stays flat and does not buckle when painting the picture on top of the block. The sheet tears easily with a little help from an instrument to slide under the one side of the paper.
