If you plan to go aftermarket on your Ender 5 Pro and modify it to be a direct drive extruder with a dual gear set up, you’ll need this version of the 42-40 motor to get the extra 2mm of length in the shaft.The factory is only 20mm and this one is 22mm. If you found yourself coming up short with the factory motors shaft this WILL work as a drop-in replacement.

I have the newer ender 3 not sure what creality was thinking using a press on extruder, sad I had to buy a new motor just to replace the extruder wheel, but this is the exact replacement that allows easy change outs when needed.

This works very well for the ender 5 plus. I use this to add a direct drive to my printer as the stock motor had a gear that would not come off easily. Worth the money and has performed nicely

This motor has a D axle which works with all removable gears, not the press on gears

Not sure how, but a short-shaft (IE: stock Ender 3 single-hob extruder) stepper was in the package. Still has the extruder gear pressed on. If that wasn't bad enough, it was a used one, to boot.Looks like someone took the right motor, swapped out their extruder motor, and returned the old one.Really sucked because I had ordered the Capricorn PTFE tube, fittings, and a dual-gear extruder to upgrade my Ender. Even had it all shipped in one package.Even though I wasn't able to return the motor, Amazon still issued me a refund.

If you want to fit a dual cog extruder then you need this version of the stepper motor. It has the longer shaft that you need to support the longer drive gear. The filament is moved out 8.5mm from a regular metal extruder and this adds the matching length that's required.

Extruder motor went bad on my Ender 3 V2. This bolts right on and works like new.
