Birch! Birch is a hardwood that holds up exceptionally well against the elements when used to hang laundry outdoors.

Would these hold Christmas Cards up on a ribbon?

Yes I think they would, although I think it might cover up the card.

What's the length(tall) and width of clothespin (

I know they are about 1/2" dia. I drilled 9/16" holes in tree stumps and they slid right in with plenty of play. On a 1/2 hole they needed to be tapped in with a hammer and then they would not be easily removed. Don't know the length, they are stored at our cabin 3 hours north of us.
