The backdrop: I recently bought juvenile cichlids from a pet store so I quarantined them for a week treating them with salt and paraguard. During the 7 day treatment I noticed some of them still had stringy white poop. 1st sign. 1 fish did an occasional flash/ rub against the bare floor and that was the 2nd sign. 3rd sign was the clamped bottom fins. Anyway, after the 7 days I decided to move them to the display tank (amateur move) assuming paraguard would have knocked out pretty much everything. WRONG. Few days in the new tank, perfect water parameters, the fish were still mostly hiding and lethargic. Most would still eat but 1 barely touched food or even schooled with the rest. Then I saw that same fish flashing/rubbing again. This is when I knew it had to be an internal parasite since there were no signs of ick. Flukes are a common problem with new cichlids. I did some research and AI led me to PraziPro. The treatment: I did a 25% water change while vacuuming the substrate a little. Removed the carbon from the filter. Added the right amount lake salts and cichlid trace back in. Waited about an hr and then dosed the tank with prazipro. Just in a matter of a few hrs, that 1 most effected fish was schooling again, came out of hiding and was suddenly full of energy. They all were. It was an amazing sight. I sat in front of the aquarium for almost 45 minutes for observation. No flashing/rubbing, no aggression, just a little happy family. This is only day 1. I have to wait another 6 days and do another 25% water change then re-dose. Re-dosing is critical because you have to kill any new hatchlings that might have spawned since the 1st dose. The medicine is only effective for about 3 days before losing potency so waiting 6 days before re-dosing ensures you catch the eggs that hatched during the initial period and before they could lay more eggs. Recap: remove carbon, 25% water change, 1st dose, wait 6 days. Water change. 2nd dose, wait another 6 days followed by another water change and this time put the carbon back in to clean up any other remaining medicine.

Worked like a charm. I lost a royal gramma before I noticed my blenny flashing all over the place, hiding in weird places, and just outright not eating. I used this to treat for flukes I suspected them of having and about 3 or 4 days in my blenny came out of hiding looking for some food I put in to munch on. My fish are all happy and healthy now along with my conch, snails, shrimp, and hermit crabs. Im happy it was safe for all my little pals and would recommend as a safe treatment.
