Cardone 66-4199 New CV Axle

Good replacement axle that works well on a 2006 Honda Pilot. Easy to install and no problems after 6 months and 10,000 miles (replaced Left and Right sides). Robust construction and fit perfectly without issue. Satisfied!

The CV boots was broken on my 04 MDX, and I purchased this axle to replace the whole axle, instead of rebuilding with new boots. Who needs to rebuild if it can be replaced with a brand new one at almost same cost?the axle itself is comparable to the OE one, although it's too early to know its long term quality. Installation is as standard and no surprise. Would suggest to watch the several available videos before DIY...

The CV Axel fit perfectly to my vehicle as described. Although the rubber booth materials look cheap but it’s what you pay for. Hopefully this CV axle will last 2-5 yrs. Definitely recommend !!!

I put this on a 2006 Honda Pilot 2wd with 209k miles on it. I installed it with no issues related to the new axle. It's a little bit shorter than the original axle but I think that's generally true for the aftermarket axles. I've seen lots of install videos where the new aftermarket axle is a little bit shorter than the factory axle taken off the car.Just a little bit of advice for removing the old axle. You need to get underneath the car with a pry bar, or long screw driver, and hammer. You have to use the pry bar and hammer to tap the axle out of the half shaft. Don't waste time trying to pull it out by hand as you're only going to break the axle when pulling on it. Get under the car, angle the pry bar so that it's almost parallel to the ground and tap on the end of the axle that inserts into the half shaft. You may have to slip the pry bar over an exhaust pipe. If you use enough force, it should only take a minute or so to tap out the old axle.When installing this new axle, align the splines of the axle with those of half shaft. If you align the splines when you initially insert the axle, you'll feel the splines catch on each other and the axle will not spin. This is important before you tap in the axle so you don't strip anything. Also, if the axle will not tap in, after you align the splines, check the set ring on the half shaft. The set ring keeps the axle connected to the transmission. On my car, it warped when I took out the old axle and prevented me from putting on the new axle even though the splines were aligned. It looks like a normal metal ring but it's important. It's super cheap so you may want to get a new set ring from your local dealer before doing this job.These axles are super cheap, relative to the factory axles that lasted 14 years and 209k miles, so I'm not expecting a ton of years from them. If I can get 2 to 3 years, I'd be happy.

This was for the passenger side front on a 2006 Honda Pilot and was a direct fit.Update 6-8-21, boot has a pin hole in one of the center position creases. Too late for return so now the options are buy another one or due is boot replacement which is more work than installing a new one. Doubt I will buy another Cardone.
