Amazon Basics 12 Sheet High Security Micro Cut Paper, Credit Card and CD Shredder with 6 Gallon Easy Emptying Bin, Casters, Black

This shredder is fantastic. I used it over a 6-8 hour period to shred about 15 years of old checks. Paper does not seem to get stuck in the cutters and it never clogged. Has sufficient power for the advertised "12 sheets of 20 pound bond at a time." Shreds credit cards easily, did not try CD's. The description says that it will run for 20 minutes and then shut down for 20 minutes. I must have been feeding at the correct rate because it never shut down for overheating. It did shut down when the bin got too full. It states it "meets security level P-4 standards." I believe it does, looks like very tiny confetti. The removable bin is a good size and requires a little effort to reinstall after removal. For the price it is an excellent value. It replaced two older shredders I had, one was large strip shredder that was not very secure and the other was a smaller unit that was more secure but kept overheating about every 10-15 minutes and then had to cool down.

Works well after after 10++ years of heavy use. After over five reams of heavy 20lb paper, mailers, and unopened junk mail it still shreds very well and the waste would be very difficult if not impossible to puzzle back together.

I was hesitant with purchasing this machine but so glad I did! I filled 5, 30 gallon trash bags - the only reason it stopped working was because I needed a break - did not stop due to overheating and ran continuously for 3 hours this morning. Wasn’t sure how fast the micro-cut would shred but surprisingly, it was fast unlike other ones I have used. Some cons - If you are on the phone, I suggest putting in your AirPods or if you are watching tv, turn up the volume - a small price to pay for a job well done. I did have to empty out the bin quite often but again, this machine is not made for what I tasked it to do, which it completed without protest. If you need an affordable shredder, this is the one to invest in.

Works great. Shreds paper into confetti. The only downside is it automatically turns itself off when not in use. So I have to pull it out, to re-push the power button i order to turn it back on. I wish it would stay on and work off the electric eye once paper is inserted or at least have that option. Other than that, good shredder for the price.

This micro shredder is a workhorse! It runs much quieter than I expected. The shredded bits are so small - no way anyone is going to get any useful info from them. I don't stuff in 12 sheets at a time even though it says it can handle it, usually no more than 4 at a time. They are pulled through quickly. Credit cards are no problem either. Highly recommend!!

Works well. Holds a lot.

This is anything but basic. It shreds and shreds and shreds and asks for more. Assembly was as easy as wrestling the large and cumbersome box to the lower level of my house, popping in the wheels, finding the on/off switch which could have been better placed, and I was shredding. One warning - if you use shredder bags inside the bin to keep it clean be careful when you pull the bag out, as depending on the fullness it tends to catch on the interior tabs of the clear plastic window. It shredded 8+ medium to heavy sheets and credit cards with not problem. It worked continuously through a huge pile without overheating. While it is early days, I am pleased with my purchase. I am hopeful that it will continue to be a hardworking champ.

I had been using the same Fellowes shredder for over 10 years. Was hesitant to replace because it still worked, feel this it has been a high quality shredder. BUT, I am very happy I upgraded. This shredder improved my experience in these ways. 1.MUCH easier to unload, with no more vacuuming necessary. My old shredder required you to take the entire top (heaviest part) off and then dump the bin underneath. There was no way to do this without a mess being left by all the little pieces stuck to the bottom of the shredding device. This style is so much easier with a simple pull out bin. I just filled it twice my first time using it and I didn't have a single piece fall onto the floor. That alone is worth the update. 2. Larger bin by 1.5 gallons, so less frequent emptying. 3. MUCH quieter. I guess I assumed shredders were just naturally quite loud, but this one is significantly quieter. 4. It can truly handle 12 pages at a time, old one could barely do 9, although rated for 11. 5. Shreds into much smaller pieces instead of strips. 6. Has casters, making it easier to roll to another room if necessary. CON: The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is that the bin does not go back in smoothly. It's not a huge deal ,but you do need to jiggle and push it a bit to go back in. It pulls out without issue. I would still buy again despite this issue.

Was looking for a shredder to produce cardboard bedding material for my worm composting set-up. I have a nice cross-cut shredder but A: only 10 sheet maximum and B: cross-cut still produces pieces that are not ideal length. This shredder has lots of recommendations from folks who want to make their own simple bedding for their “worm tower” set-ups. So I decided to give it a go. A 12-sheet shredder is considered the minimum page count to be able to handle standard cardboard. My 10 sheet machine could do it, but was grinding hard! It's a good shredder otherwise, so didn’t want to kill it. And I have an old workhorse strip shredder that can basically shred concrete, but again, pieces are much too long for my needs. Does a very nice job on standard cardboard (read amazon boxes) producing small, easy to store and spread pieces. Not a speed demon, but not bogging down either. Very pleased. Also a great way to handle your paper or cardboard for recycling or other composting (not just vermiculture).

Bueno pero sin factura

As a newbie to vermiculture, I took all the good reviews as a sign and bought it. I have to say that it works perfectly and the best part is that I stripped the tape and the labels off, and used the shredder to make 3/4 of a bin of perfect worm bedding!
