Two points: 1. The spread of the legs is adjustable, so the wider you make them, the sturdier it becomes 2. As long as you mount a mic so it is centered above the vertical axis of the stand, it will handle it, as long as the mic weight is balanced at its mount point. i'm assuming you mean a handheld mic? the included clip is pretty big and should work, but your microphone probably came with a clip that fits it perfectly, just screw that on.

It's got a standard microphone thread on the end. So like...probably. unless your microphone or clip has some kind of non standard mounting threads.
