Great blades.
I read that some people were sharpening them, and others saying it was unnecessary. I decided not to sharpen them, thinking that if they really needed it, I could always take them off again and sharpen them. Out of the factory, they appear fairly dull. They have a coating on the cutting edge (I'm guessing to protect the blades or packaging in transport). This wears off very quickly. Because of this, the blades don't really begin to cut well until after the first quarter acre or so. After that, these blades are really great. The cut very cleanly, and actually have a good amount of lift to them, much much more than the stock blades on our LA145. One down side is that these seem to be much heavier than the stock blades. If the mower is not completely warmed up, they almost kill it when I engage them. These also seem to do a better job of mulching up the clippings, making them lay more evenly instead of clumping up. This also means they blow right back into your nose easier in the wind. So if you have allergies, you might want to take that into consideration. All in all, an excellent blade that I can only hope will hold up with time. EDIT: I babied these blades but finally had a big OOPS moment a couple days ago, when I backed over my homemade lawn striper. As a result, I ended up running over a brick and two pieces of 3/8" rebar. Ouch. Shut the blades off quickly but the damage had been done. Surprisingly, these suffered very little damage. Two of the blades had very small nicks in them (less than 1/4") and the third was untouched. They sure bent the hell out of the rebar. Extremely pleased with how durable these blades are and have confidence they will last for a long time.

I hope these work better in the Fall when I connect my leaf mulching ...
These seem to be okay. I'm most of the way through the summer now, have them on a John Deere 25 Hp, 3-blade 48" Deck Lawn Tractor. What I have noticed that I'm not fond of is these seem to blow grass clippings and leaf debris up in front of the mower deck as I'm mowing. That's my reasoning for the 4 stars. My deck is "closed" with the grass mulching cover on the discharge chute. The clippings blow all over my legs and the tractor. Didn't have that with the original blades. I hope these work better in the Fall when I connect my leaf mulching vacuum trailer to the tractor and pick up the tons of oak leaves at my place. If they don't work well, I wasted my money as I'll have to buy the original style. Hopefully these work better, or at least as good.

3 Years Without Touching The Edge
UPDATE: Purchased these in May of 2016. Never touched the blades other than to clean them off when I cleaned the underside of the deck. Last year about half way through the season I finally used a grinder to refresh the edge. Purchasing a new set now for 2020 and will keep the old ones as backup. (or as my wife says, "Junk) Depending on the height of the grass it usually takes me about 45 minutes to an hour to cut my lawn. Gets cut weekly from mid May through September and less than weekly April, October & November. (JD LA130) Original Review: I've been trying to cut the grass at a longer length (3.75" - 4") to see if it helps keep it greener and reduce some of the weeds. With the factory high lift / mulching blades, even when new, they didn't seem to have the lift necessary to pick up the grass once the wheels ran over it. These new blades do an excellent job of lifting, even at the 4" setting. They also do an excellent job of mulching what gets cut. Had one section that, due to weather and other factors was getting about 3" cut off the top. I use the mulching adapter on the discharge opening so everything that gets cut, stays under the deck. (With the deck set at 4", some does blow out around the edges but not a significant amount.) With the factory blades cutting this length would leave significant "Wind Rows" behind the mower. While there was a small amount of this in the heaviest cut section, it was much less than I would have expected and the material that was left was nice small pieces, well chopped. The grass was nice and dry which I'm sure helped in the mulching.

Good upgrade from stock blades.
So far so good! Much better quality than OEM blades. Fits my Deere d120. I donโt really notice too much of a noise difference between these and original blades. Maybe a touch more due to the upgraded lift the blades are providing. Happy with the purchase and functionality.

Good blades
Most blades don't last long for me as I live in the country on a semi-sandy plot with lots of trees. I constantly have to clean up large sticks but leave the smaller ones and mow over them. There are lots of leaves in the spring that collect at the edge of the woods that surround my lot. I don't rake them up (hate raking) but instead mow it into mulch. In addition I have ground moles that leave humps of dirt all over the yard where they push up the sandy soil. My neighbor told me to try these Oregon blades (he called them sand blades) and they seem to last twice as long as the mulching blades that come standard with a riding mower. Surprisingly they are only a little more in price for the set. So they are now my go-to replacement blades now. UPDATE: I ordered these spring of 2019. I just sharpened them for this season and the wear indicates they will last for the rest of the 2020. 2 years of the described abuse is pretty good. I just ordered another set for 2021.

Oregon Gator blades mulch with great results
I installed these blades on my John Deere E170, they are balanced and sharp, they cut my grass into much finer pieces and leave no clumps as I mow, which is what I was looking for, I should also mention that I donโt use any mulching attachments, I mow using the standard discharge chute. I would recommend the Oregon Gator blades!

messy but good
Good quality blades. Genuine Oregon branded. Mine are on a John Deere E160. I trimmed a bit off the top of my lawn and (JD mower deck adjusted up high) and my shoes were covered in grass. This is not the blades fault, but be aware that they have massive lift and there's no place for the grass to go. The blades do chop the grass up nicely. It's nice to have about half the grass clippings piled up as I normally do. I didn't notice a difference in sound volume as others have.
