Do you need the base game to play this expansion?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  The expansion contains a new double-sided board and cards, but it does not have the cards and tokens necessary to actually play the game.

Does this expansion allow for solo play?

Accepted Answer

To be clear: "Clank! A Deck Building Adventure" Allows for solo play when you download the update from the BoardgameGeeks website. The free solo play alteration addon download (June 2018) says- "Update: Now supports both expansions."

Read the comments icon on the far right of the downloads page for players reaction to this solo play update.

Note: Also there is a Dec 2016 solo play (earlier) download. That one does not allow using it with the two expansions and is why the earlier answers here say that the expansion does not allow for solo play. But now two expansions are compatible with solo play.

The key is to go to boardgamegeeks website, register, and download information, updates, read hints etc.

Question 3

Clank has a huge box for the base game (with lots of space). With the new board, is is possible to add this expansion to the original Clank box?

Very good question, I am able to fit everything (including the new expansion, new cards and any extra pieces) all within the first box. However, the box is a little raised as the new board does inhibit the box from completely closing. I do feel that it is satisfactory enough for me, it raises the lid about a half inch when you put the lid on with all the new stuff.

So Just Bought this expansion have not played it yet how old is it and any current news on further expansions as of yet?

Sunken Treasures releases in March 2017. A new expansion for Clank! A Deck Building Adventure was announced recently and is expected to release in March 2018. There is also Clank! In! Space! Which is a stand alone big box Clank! Game but is not compatible with the original or the two expansions.
