Solutions Manual for Organic Chemistry

This is a must buy for organic chemistry. Its a great addition to the textbook and I really couldn't think of going through my Chem class without it. Unlike bio, chemistry isn't all about memorizing. You have to actually do all the problems and practice, so with this solutions manual it helps you practice and understand all the different ins and outs of each rule because there are always exceptions in chemistry.

I purchased this Solutions Manual for my daughter during her summer college course of Organic Chemistry. Due to the fast pace of a summer class the solution manual made the Organic Chemistry course very understandable and an excellent base for her future chemistry courses. As a side note, she graduated with honors with a Biology major, chemistry minor, and an art minor from Case Western Reserve University

I bought this solutions manual because my organic chemistry professor suggested it, and it turned out to be a great help. Working out the problems in the textbook really helps solidify the concepts, and this solutions manual clearly shows all of the answers and mechanisms. If you have the textbook you should definitely invest in this manual.

I'm not usually a fan of solution manuals. I feel like a student should have a solution manual free of charge in the form of a professor or teaching assistant. So, I muscled through the 1st of a 3 course Organic Chemistry sequence purely through the textbook, lecture notes, and numerous office hour visits. I survived, but it was painful. I finally gave in and bought the solutions manual for the second course. I have to admit that it is more expensive than I am comfortable paying for a companion book to an already expensive textbook, but I also have to admit that it helped greatly. The solutions manual unfortunately does not cover every question in the book, and it does not enumerate every step in every answer. However, it gives enough information to allow me to ask specific questions rather than just bring my textbook to my professor's office and ask him to do every problem for me. Instead, I could show the professor which step I still did not understand, which would usually lead to the pinpointing of a certain concept I did not understand. It does not serve as a replacement for a professor or a TA, but I found it to be an invaluable complement.
