Are these staples more narrow and slightly shorter than a standard staple?

Yes and no, in that order. Standard staple are about 7/16" across the back and P3 staples are closer to 3/8". The leg length on standard staples varies from approximately 3/16" to about 1/2" while P3 staples are almost always about 3/16'.

They are mape for the Bostitch P3 plier stapler. They are more narrow than a "standard" staple. Width is not very important since is made for a specific stapler. I would measure for you, but my staples are at work. I have use these 2 products for so long, that it is bothersome to use a stand stapler. Easy to hold, easy to compress and will staple quite a thick stack of paper. If you get these staples....get the stapler. Excelente producto, de calidad y muy util para manualidades! Solo hay que tomar en cuenta que usa grapas pequeñas, no son las de tamaño standard de oficina que conocemos. Pero si se consiguen en cajas pequeñas.

What can I say? When I use these staples in my stapler, and want to staple some pagers together, the pages get stapled. Perfect, job done.

Hand stapler

Love this hand stapler does everything I expected I use it in Sewing safer than pins. I had one of these before bought it someplace else when I was 15 doing a Postrio when I moved, it got misplaced had to buy this one same make and model. I’m 65 now it’ll probably outlast me
