Quite A Well Made Parasol Base
This parasol base works by filling it with sand and placing it on the stand of the umbrella you need to weigh down. I recently purchased a banana umbrella and this one is perfect for it. The lining opens up to allow the filling with sand. Once filled it is closed with velcro to keep the sand in place. The catch on the cover is NOT really strong so do not try to tighten it around the base of whatever you are using it for. The clip is only to retain the circular shape of the cover. The bag took a good 25Kg's of sand and it would have been possible to add more. Happy to recommend.

Very good but has little flaws.
Great piece of kit. Hard to fill and messy. You’d get over that! Its heavy but I’m fine with that. When I’m old I’ll have trouble. Takes 20kg of sand and I’d say 5-10kg more to fill. I’ve 3/4 bag left of 20 ish kg bag. Now the issue I had with wind is, my Parasol has and adjustment pedal on the base…. When the sand and bag settled… the parasol started to rotate left and right on the pivot. The weight of the bag pressed the pedal down and let it loose!! No drama really I just jammed a brick under the pedal and the bag! Sorted! Pick a position and your grand. Strong wind today and it didn’t fall over 👍🏻

Good product I finally got around to using
I bought this last summer and finally got to use it today. It's filled with basic building sand and I definitely could have put more in, it's not fully filled out yet, but it's doing a good job of holding the umbrella. One or two design improvements could be another handle on in the opposite side to even the load when lifting and a buckle to secure the filling flap, when you lift it by the handle the velcro seems to strain and I don't fancy sand all over my patio when I go to put it in for the winter. Other than that it seems to be a good job, we'll see what happens when it rains, whether it's water repellent or not.

Undersized but heavy enough
The sandbag was floppier than I imagined it would be, given its purpose. Its depth was only 5.5 inches rather than the 6.3 inches advertised and the diameter was less than shown in the illustrations, but I couldn't give a figure because accurate measurement was impossible with the flexible structure. I felt it necessary to insert a 5.5 inches wide length of thick plastic sheeting (1mm thick) to support the shape while I filled it. The length required was less than the circumference of an 18.5 inch diameter circle but I adjusted it. I filled it fairly easily by pouring the sand in and pushing it to the corners while the shape was maintained by the plastic. I stopped when the sand was starting to overflow, but it may be possible to top up later when it has settled. It now weighs 36.1 kg so it will do the job and the handle appears to cope with the weight. I used kiln-dried sand which flowed nicely.

Works well
Easy to fill and made of a heavy fabric. Simply wrap it around the base and use the clip to fasten to the sides together.

Fell over straight away
Not strong enough for a leverage umbrella. So I've used it for the egg chair. Would definitely work for a standard upright umbrella.

Parasol base
Definitely needed to buy this to go with the parasol, very easy to use and fill up. Fits perfectly around the parasol and is very durable and strong.
