I LOVE these mini ice cube trays which I bought back in June of this year!! I have a large freezer but it is always jammed full of items. I bought 2 sets of these mini ice cube trays (6 total trays with 6 cubes each) and they can always find open freezer spots. With the snap on lids these trays can hold their own amidst all my freezer items. I love that the cubes are smaller as 4 or 5 cubes fit nicely (I like a lot of ice) in my 10 oz rock glass for ice tea, juices and diet coke. With more cubes in my glass, my drinks get colder quicker. Also with the cubes being smaller I find that they freeze faster. To get the cubes out of the tray I leave the lid on and run the underside of each tray under very warm faucet water for about 10 seconds and then the cubes easily come out when pushing on the bottom of the tray with my fingers. I like that the trays have lids so the ice does not pick up freezer smells. When a tray is empty I leave it in the refrigerator portion of my frig to remind myself to fill it up again with water. I use my 12 oz bottled drinking water to easily fill the trays without spilling water all over. I never have had any pieces of the tray get into my ice. As I said, I LOVE these mini trays!!

Obviously if you had an ice maker you would not need these. So we are people who do not have an icemaker, but use ice on occasion, using the traditional trays. These little holders come in handy as they are covered, so insulate from sublimation and odors. You’ll find if you infrequently use ice, keeping it unused in the freezer for long periods results in sublimation of the ice and it miraculously disappears. Also the ice can pick up a smell. The covers make all the difference. DON’T OVERFILL: However if you fill the ice cube trays too high up, you end up with an ice film on top that connects all the cubes and you have to break that loose, before you can push out a single cube. If these are also slightly tilted, you could get a similar film too. SMALLER THAN I EXPECTED: I knew these were mini-ice cube trays, but the size was still a surprise. Each tray measures: 4-½” x 3-⅞” and 1-⅜” tall The resultant cubes will be about 1-⅛ x 1-⅛ x 1” in size, if you don’t overfill.
