Don't be put off by the shape, it's an excellent ladle
I needed a ladle for a vacation home and in the past only had ladles with more of a scooped, half sphere shape. But I purchased this anyway and it's performing much better than I expected. The more flat bottomed shape is very convenient, especially retrieving vegetables and other ingredients in soups more easily than the traditionally shaped ladles I've always used in the past. It's made well and a good size for regular kitchen use. The handle may be a bit short if you're doing institutional cooking in a very deep pot, but I don't think that's its intended use.

Shape is perfect
I love that it has a flat side which helps scoop the last bit of soup out of the bottom of the pot. It also feels like it’s sturdy and good quality.

Helpful Tool
Very helpful tool. Makes it much easier to get all your soup, broth, sauce etc from pot to bowl. Helpful when I cook in heavy pots.

Not the standard shape we are accustomed to, but nice.
The front is more like the end of a spatula which can also hold some liquid. You go underneath a piece of food and tilt back to grab some liquid. This can be used in a pan or tray. The difference is a standard ladle goes straight down into a pot. It cannot go under anything to lift it off a pan or tray with liqiud. Sturdy stainless steel, just not heavy as what we would expect. No worries. It is NOT flimsy. It certainly is unique and good to have. You won't realize you could use something like this until you need it. 🤗 I took off 1 star only because it can appear like a standard circular ladle.

Works as advertised.
It is amazingly hard to find one of these flat-lip ladles nowadays for some strange reason. This one is replacing a plastic one we had for a long time but replaced as we are replacing all our plastic utensils. This works fine at getting the last of liquids (soups, etc.) out of the bottom of a container or pot. Seems fairly well made and works as I wanted.
