Intruder 30442 The Better Mousetrap, 6-Pack

MY ORIGINAL REVIEW (Update follows): After making myself crazy trying to use the old original traps with the wood base, I read reviews for this one (The Intruder 30442 6-Pack) and decided to try 'em. WOW! What a difference! Success every time. I can't believe how easy they are to set. And VERY easy to empty and rinse off. Never messy, but I rinse it anyway. I just spray it with a couple of shots of Simple Green, my "Go To" cleaner and rinse. Stupidly, I fought with the old style trap from the hardware/grocery store for weeks. I used them all my adult life when the need arose (The joys of rural living) but over the years the quality has finally deteriorated to the point where they weren't worth squat! I had a horrible time just trying to set that bad boy and keep it set until I could put it down in the right spot. I'd move just an inch or two and BAM! Or, if I was lucky enough after maybe a dozen attempts to get the trigger to stay put, in the morning, I would find the trap sprung, the bait gone and not a mouse in sight! Absolutely useless. VERY frustrating. Not a problem with this little gem. As a plus it snapped on my finger once and it didn't hurt much at all! At that point, I wasn't feeling very confident that it would do its job. But it did, every single time. Such a simple design, but it works - effortlessly. I'm sure that in time the spring will weaken and the trap will be tossed. That's why I bought six. I only used three so far and in less than a week, I no longer hear the pitter patter of tiny little feet. I caught a total of six mice, since I started using these traps, the cat got only one. What does that say about the effectiveness of "The Intruder"? I'm sold. I suggest using peanut butter, because it is easier to rinse off "after" than cheese. The cheese sticks to the little ridges on the paddle as it dries. It can be rinsed off, but the p-butter is much easier. My only regret is that I didn't try these little gems sooner. What a fool I was. UPDATE 5/17/2015: Yup! My review above is SO spot on! It's now 10 days later and I STILL LOVE THESE TRAPS! They have not sprung for about a week now. The pnut butter bait is still there. And not a single sign of mousies - no visual sightings, no audible sounds of tiny tap dancing feet, and no telltale mini tootsie rolls. However, the last mouse in my house was interesting. About a week ago, as I was sleeping in the middle of the night, in the dark, I awoke to hear some weird scratching, scuffling sounds. They seemed to be coming from the far corner of the room where I had stored a few boxes and packing materials. Since my screens don't fit tightly, moths get in and as I crawled down under the covers, I convinced myself that a moth or moths (some of those suckers are BIG) were fluttering around in the packing paper. I was not brave enough to get out of bed and investigate. (Shudder) After all, it was dark and it could have been the boogeyman. (We all know he can't get us if we stay under the covers!) Long story short, I kept hearing the noises from the same spot all night. Eventually, it dawned on me that the last mousie in my housie had fallen/jumped into one of the larger boxes and was struggling to get out, an impossible task for a guy his size. When morning (and daylight) finally arrived, my suspicions were confirmed. I took the box out to the far corner of my property and released the little one. He took off toward the nearest tree a couple of feet away and scurried under a large piece of fallen tree bark where he promptly started hammering and sawing to put the finishing touches on his new home. He was a smart one. After all, he was the only mousie to find a way out of my house alive! The only one who outsmarted the Intruder 30442 Mousetrap!

They are easy to bait (I use peanut butter), They are easy to set. Mice can't steal the bait like they can with the old fashioned snap traps. No more catching the mouse by the back leg. Humane. Mice die quickly. It's easy to get rid of the dead mouse. The trap is ready to re-set because the bait is still there. I can't say enough good about these traps. They are very reasonably priced from this vendor since they are 2/$10 at my local store. And they were shipped and arrived quickly.

I wish I didn't have expertise here, but I do. The house we've lived in for nearly 30 years had D-con in the attic when we bought it. Should have been a clue. We catch over a dozen a year despite contractors sealing up apparent cracks and crevices. Let's start with the basic throw away wood thingies. First, despite the fact that they'll break your finger with the slightest misstep, a clever and lightweight mousie can easily clean off one of these and move on unscathed to more foraging. Probably because we secure them so they won't accidentally break our fingers. When they do work, there's often a bloody corpus left. Or it catches them but doesn't kill them right away, and you hear the flopping and rattling before the end finally comes. I hate them! An exterminator advised me that D-con is bad because when the mouse ingests the stuff, while most think they head outside to die, they actually are heading home for their final moments. The exterminator said that if it's a second or third generation mouse, your house is his house and he'll die in your walls or other crannies. Not a pleasant olfactory occurrence. We experienced this right after we moved in and D-con was still in the attic. A little critter apparently passed away in our bathroom exhaust vent while exiting to SOME place of comfort. It took days of scrubbing the bathroom in vain to realize that when the exhaust fan was running we didn't smell anything. Uggh. It was 28 years ago and I can still remember it. Next are the sticky traps. While these are effective at nabbing mice, they don't KILL them. The thought of them living for days until trash collection, plotting their escape or gnawing at the trap to escape was unacceptable. My exterminator adviser said, "Why, you just bop em on the head!" We chose instead drowning them in a giant plastic container that we filled for such occasions, That worked until one time when the mouse still had one foot off the trap. The trap landed in the water right side up and the mousie gracefully paddled his way around the container in circles. Sort of like Venice. Then I discovered The Better Mouse Trap by Intruder.The name pulled me in. In dozens and dozens of entrapments, I've NEVER had the bait cleaned off with the mouse escaping. Only once did the trap even move from its location by the mouse's final thrashings. Setting the trap is simple as pie--just push the rear tab down--and I don't fear broken fingers. Apparently the trap smothers the mouse instead of breaking its neck or back, so no bloody body. And just pinch the tab again to release the dead mouse--no need to get even close to touching it. They are easy to rinse off and use again (apparently mice can smell their deceased colleagues on the trap). Both the plastic and stainless steel spring are very sturdy so they last for years. I've shared these with friends and family and everyone has been as happy as we've been. This brand is hard to find in the stores so Amazon's the way to go. I once settled for a knockoff from Walmart, and the half-trapped critter pulled the trap off the counter onto the floor and would NOT die. I got up from my deep sleep and threw bowl over the little fellow figuring he'd be gone by the morning. Apparently they don't need much oxygen, because he was still alive when I woke up. ONLY USE THE AUTHENTIC BETTER MOUSE TRAP! Also--all this fuss about cheese vs. peanut butter as bait. Another tip from the exterminator: mice love candy and sweets! So I mix Nutella or chocolate sauce with the peanut butter. Seems to do the trick.

After trying some old spring traps and having the mice eat the bait clean without setting off the trap, I bought a pack of these and was only slightly disappointed. Pros: * Easy to set and empty * Due to the design, they don't snap down hard, so there are no worries about hurting yourself by accidentally setting them off when putting them in place or bumping into them * Suffocation is quick. I have heard the trap go off and found dead mice within a few minutes of checking the trap. * The bait area has groves in it to help keep the bait in place, making the mice have to 'move more' to get it and helping prevent a 'grab and dash', making it more likely they will set off the trap. * Inexpensive! Cons: *While they are sensitive, they are not the most sensitive out of the box. The first time I set these out, the bait was eaten without setting off the trap. After bending the back tabs a bit to try and make them more sensitive, the success rate went up to 99% I was trying to figure out how the 1% were getting away while setting off the trap, and discovered it quite by luck: The small mice don't really get caught. They either don't quite set the trap off or they are small enough to be able to 'wiggle' their way out (somehow). I confirmed this one day when I checked the traps and found one dead mouse (looked to be 'typical' sized) and one small (I'd guess about half the size of the others) mouse that was still alive, but got it's foot caught in the trap joint, so it didn't get away. This allowed me to catch it in a bag and remove it from my place. So far, I've had traps go off twice with nothing caught, and I can only assume that it's due to much smaller mice than the 'average'. Hopefully they will be successful when the mice get a little bigger (hopefully before more mice are produced as well).

This mouse trap works great. Humane way to kill mouse. Easy to bait with a little peanut butter. They last a few years. I've put ant repellent gel around the trap since ants will eat all of the peanut butter. Sometimes, ravens carry the dead mice, with traps, away to eat them. We have found them 25 feet from our yard! This is a much better solution than rodent poison which kills the birds and animals that eat the dead mice.

I tried live traps and those didn't work, so I resorted to these. These things are BRUTAL. They did not quickly kill the mice that set the traps off. One trap had blood all over it, but no mouse. Tells me it struggled to get loose. The other trap too had blood all over it, but with a dead mouse. The trap closed around its head, but did not kill him. He struggled to get out of it... his little paws ripped open from all the struggling. Just awful. These mice were smaller than my thumb, so they weren't too big for the traps. If you test the traps on yourself, they don't even pinch you much less hurt in any way. A baby could set it off and it wouldn't even hurt them. I see other folks had success with these... but I question how quickly they kill. I'm going back to another brand that worked great (Tomcat Press N' Set Mouse Traps). I abandoned that brand because the traps only worked a few times before breaking... but that might have been because I'm using them outdoors and the components can rust. Nevertheless, they killed the mice quickly and have way more force than these Intruder traps.

Love these traps as they are much easier to set than the old Victor traps and they work just fine.

Love these traps. 1 I used frito corn chip. press end and trap opens. when trap opens a nice "tongue" sticks up. crush a frito to smaller pieces and put them on that tounge.. I would then place the trap on top of something so themouse has to stand on his back two legs and use his hands to lean on when he goes for hte food. I think they "might" be able to swipe the food if they don't have to use their hands inside the trap. I have these all over hte place and i found a few robbed with no mice. unsprung. ones i placed on a power strip.. or a paperback book .. the food does not get "robbed" it's 100%. I found out i had mice once winter set in. there were some corn chip bags and i heard the crinkling. i loaded a trap with peanut butter and watched.. a mouse came out.. ignored the peanut butter and tried to get in the corn chip bag i placed under the trap. So i used a corn chip.. and bang.. 7 mice later i seem to be mice free. Mice must have a history with corn fields. THEY LOVE FRITO CORN CHIPS!. And i LOVE these traps. once you have a mouse pick up the trap go to the bathroom, say a few last words ... or just good riddance. then squeeze the trap the trap opens (and resets) (like squeezing a wide wide cloths pin) mouse drops/flush and yor ready to toss another corn chip in there. These are plastic and washable, but i have jsut been tossing them out, mice creep me out. I bought an electric trap and havent enen bothered setting it up. these traps with a corn chip have done a fantastic job. Oh i have a dog.. so i stuck my finger in the trap to trip it.. and it is a scary shock but it does my finger no damage. So i wont hurt my dog other than a bit of a scare if he somehow gets in the trap. (might not be very comfortable on his tongue tho). This is it tho.. i will never buy another type mousetrap, and i will never use a different bait. the perfect pair. this trap u place the bait on the toungue which is the trap trigger.. if a mouse puts his hands on that trigger it will trip, you do not need to glue the bait in the trap. zoom in on the image and you can see the massive tongue to place the bait on. on the traps i elevated (on a power strip or old paperback), not one bait has gone missing.

The best mouse traps I have ever used. They are so easy to set up and I have found they last a long time. I was so pleased to be able to find them on the internet to buy. My sister borrowed one of mine as she had mice in the greenhouse. She had used other traps but never caught a mouse. Once set up it worked so well. She caught six mice in total. So finding them on the internet meant I could provide her with her own and I could have my one back.

Anteriormente solíamos usar de esas trampas de pegamento, pero desde que tuvimos un accidente con mi perrita de 3 meses que se quedo pegada a una, decidimos buscar otras alternativas, vi estas y sus buenas reseñas y decidí comprarlas, y estoy encantado con el resultado llevo 3 días con ellas y en esos 3 días ha atrapado 3 ratones poniendo solo 2 trampas. Primer día: 2 trampas, coloqué 2 trampas por la tarde, por ahí de las 8 de la noche cayó el primero, en la segunda trampa no cayo nada, (la cambié de lugar) segundo día: 2 trampas puestas desde la mañana al final del día en la noche las revisé, una trampa se accionó y atrapo una cucaracha XD, la segunda trampa atrapó a un ratón, al parecer fue rápido pero no lo suficiente pues lo agarro de una pata y nunca se pudo liberar, (el ratón paso a mejor vida). tercer día, 2 trampas puestas desde la mañana en la cocina, la primera no ha atrapado nada aun, en la segunda cayó otro ratón al parecer una cría por su tamaño. para los que se preguntan que tipo de cebo les pongo, utilicen, Snickers de esos que traen cacahuate, caramelo y chocolate, al parecer les encanta y el olor les es irresistible. pequeñas, discretas, baratas 6 x $294 en definitiva una buena inversión si es que sufres de plagas como yo, una buena inversión en toda regla.

I hunted high and low for these particular traps, as I had them many years ago ( a lot cheaper then though 😄😄 ) and I am so glad I found more, as they are the best traps ever and genuinely do the job as required. Truly great quality items and superfast delivery too THANK YOU!! 👍👍
