What is the entire size of the frame? In other words, is the 11x14 frame actually 13x16 if you include frame in measurement?

Yes, the frame is larger so it will fit an 11x14 photo.13x16 is not a standard developing size for pictures.

Realizing color is somewhat subjective, is the mahogany color more like cherry wood or closer to medium brown w/slight reddish tone?

Medium brown. Not very red. To me it just looks dark brown with maybe the slightest touch of warmth. Wow that was probably a confusing response 😂 all I can say is it’s more brown than red

Do all 3 sizes come with mats?

They have some sets that come with mats and others that don't. It' pretty obvious from the pictures and descriptions. Good luck

What type of closure is there on the back of the frames? I have a 11 x 14 foam core photo and am wondering if it would work in the frame.

There are little metal tabs all around the frame that you push or slide under the frame after inserting the picture. NOT the tabs that you pull up and push down while getting a picture in and out of the frame. Unlike what another person answered, I do not think the frames are a cheap or horrible investment. I wanted all the same frames on my hall display wall......these are well made, elegantly simple black frames. If you want ornate, these are not for you. Re the foam on back of picture.....you can leave out the cardboard filler that comes with the frame and maybe it will work?
