The original "red" seal that came with the toilet lasted about 12 years, then the annoying leaking started. I tried washing and cleaning it, but that only had temporary benefit. So, I ordered this genuine Kohler "yellow" seal replacement. It was easy to install, (instruction on package.) There is no need to disconnect the canister from the chain. Works great and installs so easily - five stars! As for the value for the money rating, I only gave it 4 stars. The Kohler part is significantly more expensive than the generic brands on offer. But, I could be wrong about my cost/benefit complaint, since I have not been able to personally compare the generically sourced part to the genuine article.
