Fusion 360 for Makers: Design Your Own Digital Models for 3D Printing and CNC Fabrication (Make:) Review: Easy read - Great job on explaining step by step how to start using fusion. Some of the diagrams are a little small on some pages as examples of what you are selecting but thumbing back to the larger picture works. I like the different sections on the modes of modeling and as a maker hobbyists this is just the book I was looking for. Review: A reference book to supplement the help page as well as a way to learn fusion 360 - I'm lucky that I have an expert I can ask about how to use Fusion 360, but if I didn't I'd now have this book. What I wanted it for was a reference book on how to use Fusion 360 since I like to be able to look in a book for what to use. (Note: This book is written after the interface change in Fusion 360 so describes the new way of doing things.) This book also provides examples as either worked problems or tutorials. I asked my expert for an opinion of this book, he pointed to a blurb in the book, he wrote the blurb.

realy dosent explaine what its doing
I wanted to like the book, but its either already out dated due to f360 updating quickly, or its just not walking you though the "exercises " as it should. I found it to be a bit hard to follow it shows a picture of what a command does but not how or where those commands actually are. There are gaps from one process to the other or it has nebulous explanations as to what to do. IN a book that assumes no prior knowledge of 3d design it feels like the ideas just are not being conveyed correctly. There is no room for ambiguity when trying to learn something this complex and deep.

Happy with this book
I am in the learning phase of Fusion 360, this book has been a wonderful resource. I am not finished with it yet but the learning process has been enjoyable following the path laid out in the book.

In depth instructions easy to follow
I bought this book so I could design items I could make on my home-made CNC router. I have found this book to provide step by step instruction in plain English that is thorough, accurate and easy to follow.

Exactly what I needed
Perfect to get the basics. Makes videos more helpful when you are grounded in the fundamentals. Great resource!

Excellent for Engineers new to this program
I understand CADD and engineering but am brand new to this program. I prefer textbook learning at my own pace over video tutorials. This book was hands down the best reference for learning Fusion 360!!!

Hard to start -- author hasn't checked with complete newb whether directions work
Notably, Fusion 360 is an unmitigated software disaster -- a bunch of formerly separate programs mashed together in slap dash fashion. This presents special challenges for a tech book writer. Sadly the author misses on this. But for that matter so do the folk at AutoDesk. I've made a couple of attempts to get through the first exercises and the instructions are missing vital pieces of information that I (complete newb to AutoDesk products) require to get going. Also missing are important pieces of information/strategies such as how a person could get by without plunking down $150 on a special purpose mouse recommended by the author. After all, the book does purport how to go from zero to working knowledge. I finally, with a bit of Google Fu, was able to get beyond those first painful steps, by watching lots of YouTube vids. My recommendation is: 1) use a different CAD program; 2) if you must use Fusion 360, pay for online or better in person instruction; 3) don't buy this book -- waste of time and money.

I have started with Fusion 360 following some video tutorials and the majority of people might think learning a CAD software like Fusion by watching videos, is the best way of doing this. Wrong! It is so much better to have an actual book in your hands, look at instructions and exercise them in Fusion. The illustrations and screenshots in the book will guide you. If you forget something while working with Fusion, you can just go back a page or two and pick the information up you need. There are a lot of extremely useful tips in the book, that I haven't seen mentioned in any of the videos that I watched. It also covers all aspects of Fusion and is not just limited to designing. Extremely helpful for me to get me going with my CNC (where I initially thought this would be way to complicate with Fusion). So if you consider learning Fusion 360 - forget all these online tutorials. You will learn a lot easer and faster with this book in your hands.
