This speaker is really good and very loud. I take it on trips all the time it’s loud with good sound quality. Battery life is solid, and I like that you can even use it as a portable charger to charge your phone. Overall great quality and very convenient for travel and everyday use. The white light is battery level.

The carrying case has a very premium feel to it. The JBL Charge 5 itself has a very clear sound with good bass and respectable volume for its size. It is also very easy to set up and use either with or without the app. The speaker also feels very solid in its build quality and while it is a little heavier than some speakers, its not bad to carry around. I feel the weight inspires a sense of durability. I have previously been using other JBL speakers like the Flip 4 and 5 for around 8 years now and they have always been amazing products.

Great sound and reliable with good battery life. Had a 5year old equivalent speaker by JBL, didn't need a new one, this is the same, just looks newer and works with the apps now. Sound and everything is pretty much the same.

Bought one with intent to buy another if it worked out. This one unit fills our pool area with great sound, strong bass and is easy to setup. Portable, well-suited for pool area. Just relax and stream that playlist to the device from your favorite streaming service. We're staying with one unit for now as it fills our pool area with music... if we added another it would be so the sound was spread without having to blast one unit too loud. Note: if two are used, it is the same feed to both speakers - they do not separate to separate stereo tracks... which for us is fine considering it is a pool area. Highly recommend - buy it and you won't be sorry. Other friends and family have commented on how good the speaker is and this is from people who don't normally care or notice that kind of thing.

Speaker is the best so far of the Charge Models, and compared to theJBL Extreme 1 & 2, this speaker is much better in sound quality and value. The case is great for traveling, but if you have a silicone case/wrap on your speaker, it will not fit into the case. BUT, that being said, those silicone wrap cases come off easy and roll up, and they will fit next to the speaker inside the case, along with the charger cable. So all in all, this is definitely a Great buy.

Since I have a curved metal backing on my desk at work, it makes a natural speaker cabinet all by itself. Put a well designed speaker in its bowls and I have music that can be enjoyed in a warehouse environment. Heck, I've been asked to turn it down. The bass is incredible under my desk but the speaker itself has limits. I mean, it rocks out pop music and rock n' roll like nobody's business but as soon as you start pumping some hip hop or dubstep into it, you get your peaking and crackling. Don't push it. With appropriate music, the girl in the center of the warehouse that owns one of these pretty much controls the tunes in the entire warehouse. She forgot her speaker one day and I just happened to have my JBL Charge 3 under my desk, though I almost never bring it to work, so I lent her mine but warned her that it is a 3 and not a 5; please don't blow it out. Lo and behold, she immediately attempted to go to the volume she is accustomed to. It sounded like crap. That was my first indication that I needed to upgrade to a JBL Charge 5. If you've been looking at this thing and wondering, "Can it really be that much better than my current, perfectly fine, bluetooth speaker?" Yes, it quite possibly can be. I was lucky, I got a first hand experience to show me the difference in person. I love JBL so it was a nice test, the 3 against the 5. I got a great deal on Black Friday or Cyber Monday but I now realize that it's totally worth the original $179.95. Totally.
