Got exactly what i wanted. Quick, efficient and at a great price.
“Basic” garmin product but exactly what i needed. GPS reception now much faster. Funny thing though - a polar heart rate monitor works better with the 130 than the garmin hrm. Maybe my Garmin hrm was getting old (2years).

Simple and effective.
I wanted something small, light, and easy to use. This was it. Price was more than I wanted, but I thought it would be quality, and I'm not disappointed. For info, I use a phone mount and my cell phone in addition to this, but only for gps and music. This provides me a display of the functions I want to see during my ride. HR, Speed, etc. Battery life is great. Easy to read. Buttons only, no touch screen but that's fine for me.

presto bingo bling-be-gone
I became a digital native in 1972 when my father taught me binary at age eight. I took to binary on first sight the way Connor McDavid took to a hard lump of frozen rubber around the same age. Different gifts, same intensity. Seriously, I was a "digital native" before the term had been invented yet. I used to read catalogues for electronic components in the back of English class. It was all terribly expensive, and I could hardly afford to buy any of the new bling, so I mooned over the industry via spec sheets stapled together by discount mail-order houses. When I finally did get my hands on a microprocessor, I soon tore it down to the bare metal. I've seen a lot of bare metal in my day. On the other side of the coin, what I will _never_ become is cloud native. I don't need no stinking cloud. Give me my own data and get lost, I'm more than capable of doing anything that needs to be done, in one of twenty different programming languages I've used over a long career. So of course I have nothing but loathing for Garmin's cloud business model. But as an actual piece of hardware, the Edge 130 is extremely nice. Great contrast and long battery life. Less bling. Win–win in my books. The only stupid feature is that if you fail to save your last ride of the day, you might accidentally resume your ride the next morning, more than 20 hours later (at the cost of much battery life). Garmin Connect (mostly) doesn't make me want to gouge my eyes out, which is close to the highest praise I ever give a mobile app that's cloud neutered (it won't even function without it's cloud mamma). I use the data format with one big number on top (heart rate) and six smaller numbers below. It always puts notices at the top of the screen, so the big number is frequently occluded. There's no available data format to put the big number at the bottom of the screen to avoid this. Massive face palm if you're playing from the pro tees, but what aspect of consumer electronics even pretends to play from the pro tees in the iDevice era?
