Review: Great concepts...Terrible proofreading - As a new photographer, I got a lot of great info from this book. The lack of proofreading was very distracting though. Great photographer!
This guy knows his stuff. I've learned so much from all his books. If you're learning definitely start with Bryan Peterson. He makes it so easy to understand and the tips he gives has made some of my photos look professional.

Pretty good!
I really liked this book, it's the first one I've ever seen where the author puts two photos side by side to compare them and teach you about camera settings, composition, and such. The only problem is, the photo with the mistakes in it is always smaller than the photo where the problems have been fixed, so quite often it's difficult to compare the qualities of the two photos.

A practical guide with a workshop experience
This is one of those rare books that you gives you a first-hand perspective on what it takes to improve your craft. What worked for me was to take the time to study the “before” photographs, think through what I would have done different and then looking at the “after” version with author’s comments - it has been a truly learning experience. Literally.

A Brilliant Photography Book Using Before and After Photos
Teaching you patience and perseverance is rewarded in photography. The right shot is always there, and by waiting it may reveal itself. The book also enabled me to review my technical understanding of my camera such as how to address scenes with many stops of light difference between the foreground and background, or how the camera’s meter will underexpose for whites since it’s trying to make it 18% gray or overexposed for darks for a similar reason. Most importantly, the book inspires me to think through each composition as film photographers did, valuing they were using film and it was a valuable commodity. And, develop the mindset of capturing what you want in-camera and not rely on post tools to add or takeaway. .

Great book
Another great book from Bryan Peterson. I like the comparison photos that made the observations easier to understand. I read some of the complaints about his attitude, but if he is to teach, he must be critical and point out how to improve, if not what's the point.

General instruction
Bryan Peterson is a fantastic photographer and instructor. This book touches on many of the subjects of his other books. If you are a beginner or getting back into photography, this book will serve you well and if you want a more comprehensive instruction on any of the subjects covered, you should buy his book that covers the subject you wish to understand better.
