6.5"L x 5"H x 3.5"W.  If you include the part that hangs on to the tank the width is 5".  You can only fill water up to a height of 4" before the water spills back into the tank in the overflow channel.

how do I separate mama guppy and babies? it seems different with the medium size breeding box and I am so confused how it works...

Apparently the sizes are not being represented correctly by Amazon. The small through medium versions are actual breeder boxes where pregnant female can give birth and the fry it seperate by a v birth gravity fed system to seperate the fry from the mom. The large breeding box can be used as isolation fry raising rearing or to breed fish in it in a confined space where males can fertilize the females. The large comes with 2 dividers to create 3 seperate housing area to grow out fry. I was Lao misled about this thinking all the sizes were the same but small and medium are one type and large is used as an external isolation tank. Hope this helps future buyers. I know amazon gets picky when you return things and has threatened to close my account over it but when a big company like this doesn't know the product it's actually selling and groups it together with all sizes it will create confusion to the consumer and in turn we get penalized for it or may have to pay return shipping. Those return shipping fees are the price of this plastic so it's not worth it to return. Nice product but now I need to buy a medium also because it's really what I needed with a very birth chamber to seperate fry from being eaten. Sucks wasted money.

What's to stop the fry from washing into the main tank with the returning water?

You must place a piece of sponge on the intake and in front of the grate of the water return to guarantee the safety of the fry.

Can mollies fit in the small breeder box

yes they can, not many of them though. we kept our fish in their regular tank and once the female mollies were pregnant we moved the pregnant ones to the breeder box only about 2-3 of them. It is pretty small.
