I happen to have 1 copy of APOE4..this is a risk factor for later onset Alzheimers. It doesn't mean one is doomed, but it's a risk factor nonetheless. (and that's something i'd really like to avoid, but all I can do is make healthy choices) So, your brain needs fat. (there's all kinds of information on different types of fat, but with APOE4, you probably want to avoid saturated fats while keeping a good balance of the others; keep the LDL down/HDL up and trans fats are the devil for someone like me) - 1 copy of APO4 can also block certain DHA pathways to the brain & make the uptake of DHA more difficult. (this was new information for me) This is especially bad since DHA is your best friend when it comes to quelling inflammation and all else. (Just read about DHA and the brain..it's great for brain mitochondria, lowering inflammation, the works..it even boosts brain nerve growth, improves vascular health, nerve signaling...the list goes on and on and on) - it's the bad fat (saturated) that sticks to form plaques...good fat does the opposite. It also works to protect your myelin sheath & encourage new growth (insulation of nerves) - Too much sugar & inflammation breaks it down. (aka ..diabetic neuropathy, etc) The best I could find as a supplement was always krill oil (expensive and a lot is needed to meet the daily required amount of DHA) - I did a lot of research to find out that my DHA supplements were likely not doing as much as I had hoped, b/c it was not absorbed like DHA that is in phospholipids due to the faulty APOE4 (back to krill oil as a golden standard when it comes to supplements, because they are not all created as equal for those with issues getting DHA to their brain) - The DHA supplement is still good to take (as it boosts overall EPA & EPA still helps to quell inflammation), but I really want that DHA in my brain. (And I would like it in a large amount) I was very elated to find a supplement with a good dose of DHA sourced from fish with phospholipids (roe, krill, etc). This was something I had been searching for. I wish more companies would come out with this (b/c it's expensive), but i'll keep taking it. Adding on that this is just one thing that is helpful along with a healthy diet (seriously, knock that sugar down, etc) - I am pretty much on an anti inflammatory diet and do my best to work on my gut health, etc too. There's so much to it. I am also into natural BACE1 inhibitors (things that help to thwart amyloid plaque formation.... tumeric & green tea are two powerhouses for that) - Make sure you are not deficient in any of the B supplements either and if you have bad detox pathways (i have that one too), then anti inflammatory & foods rich in fiber/antioxidants are for you. If your brain is more hyper inflammatory, you'll want to do your best to keep your liver & all else at peak performance. Alzheimers is malady of things that go wrong. It may start with too many plaques or tau in the brain, but there's so much more to it. We all have that to some degree (plaques)...So inflammation plays a key role too. If you are hyper inflammatory, it will hasten the condition 10 fold. Inflammation speeds up cellular death & even encourages more tau to invade the brain, etc. Alzheimers is a combination of plaques, inflammatory responses, tau proteins, etc. (this is why sugar is so bad in excess...too much inflames the brain & insulin resistance will allow too much sugar to pass the blood brain barrier & reek havoc - you need glucose as to provide cells with energy..but too much is destructive) - I am not into keto as a lifestyle either. I think cycling is probably ok, but overall the research backs the mediterranean diet. Some keto diets encourage saturated fats & as one with 1 copy of apoe4, I avoid that one as much as i can. Saturated fats are the artery clogging type and is what plaque formation uses as it's main material. On the flip side, good fats are very preventative. (olive oil, black seed current, avocado, & especially a good ratio of EPA/omega 3 from fish - naturally DHA would be a gold standard to have in large amounts in the brain) - plant based diets are extremely good (stock up on greens), soluable fiber as with apples, & just tumeric, tumeric, tumeric. So much research on that one. (of course exercise, etc too) - lots of green tea too b/c of the egcg...but do not take egcg as a supplement (fyi, that is toxic to the liver in large doses) The best you can do is to adopt a diet that works best to protect your brain & fuel it. I have also had my DNA decoded as to know what is best my genetic makeup, etc. Make sure your liver enzymes always look optimal and do what you can to avoid toxins. (Also keep learning and building those synapses..the more you have, the better) **hoping for the best over here & happy to find this supplement to add to my arsenal..I will not go down without a fight**

Although the pills smell fishy (after all they are made from sea creatures) they don't taste nasty and unlike every other fish-based omega pills I've tried, they don't repeat on you either.

Perfect Omega 3 for dry macular degeneration. A little pricey but it is worth it ,if you care about your eyes. Always remember to refrigerate yourOmega 3 fatty acids to avoid them from going rancid.
