Can anyone compare to corelle winter frost, which is also lead free?  are the mugs of this set lead free too? i heard corelle mugs aren't lead free.

After years of having this Sur La Table Bistro dinnerware set I liked the idea of having a lighter set so I bought the Corelle winter frost set in 2018. But I will be ordering more of the Sur La Table pieces because of the quality.  The Bistro dinnerware is PORCELAIN and is both lead and cadmium free (according to Sur La Table, all of their dinnerware is), which is why I bought it in the first place (that and it's lovely in its simplicity and it's made in Turkey).  The Bistro set is VERY DURABLE with no cracks or chips 5+ years later.  The Corelle set is made of glass. My Corelle set arrived with a chipped plate and it doesn't seem the same quality as what my mother had (I didn't order the mugs).  The Bistro set is heavier (but not terribly heavy) compared the the Corelle and the plates and bowls are slightly bigger. In my opinion, the Bistro set is better.

Yes, according to Sur La Table, it is both lead and Cadmium free.  All of their dinnerware is.

Where on the sur la table's web page does it say that "all their dishes are lead free"? i was just there and it is not on their "about" section

I haven't checked their site but did an Internet search for lead free dishes and this brand was mentioned among other ones.

Are the bowls deep or shallow?

They're not shallow.  You can put a good amount of cereal, mac n cheese, salad or even a 15oz can's worth of soup in them.  They're deeper than Corelle bowls if you're familiar with those sets.
