Great dress but sizing runs small

Dress is absolutely gorgeous and well made. I'm searching for a dress for formal night on a cruise. Unfortunately it runs small so it didn't fit. I ordered a size 4 based on size chart but it was nowhere near fitting with the clasps in back. I had to return but may reorder in a size 8. I'm a cross fitter so it may be my build that has something to do with the fit as well
