This is a good basic rebar hickey. I have been successfully using it on #4 bar without problems. It is supposed to also work on #5 but I have yet need to bend any #5.

bending 5/8 steel rebar is not the faint of heart. This tool will do it. anyone complaining that it doesn't bend steel is just not up to the task. This will bend 5/8 rebar but be prepared to really put your back into it. 5/8" is the max you will bend with this. smaller sizes are no problem at all. This is an irreplaceable tool for the job. there may be better options but for amateur me it did the job. It could use some texture or grip to prevent slipping. do not use gloves or it slips. make sure the other end of the steel is held firmly by something like under a car tire or vise.

Tool made well

Got this to bend #4 1/2" rebar. First negative is the big made in China sticker, next is not a single weld on the pins. They look pressed in, not sure how that will hold up. The paint is already cracked around the double sided pin. Yea the metal all seems thick but will see how it holds up.

Great product. I would buy another. Easy to use.

Building a deck. Needed way more rebar in my footings than I would have preferred. Made some OK progress with a pipe getting some 90 degree bends but finally caved when I needed to get some hoops bent and grabbed this hickey bar and it made things so much easier. If you have to bend more than a handful of bars, get this.

bends easy. but does not make a right angle, makes a curve. I used this with another galvanized bar make 90 degree angle
