Some bells and Wistles, but not stuff that you don't need if you don't want it. Now out of the box, it tells you that you "must" load in the software CD that they give you with it. No you don't!!! Basicly it is a removeable mass storage device. I put the usb thing in my usb port, waited a few seconds, and the window came up for me to drag and drop my music from my file. That was that. Now if you want to register your product and all that, then by all means, load the software CD. Everything is all in one!! the unit, the usb connector, and the spot where you put the 1 AAA battery. It has 3 or more folders where you can store your music or even if you want to use one of the folders for documents or pictures, you can do that. It has a equalizer that has pre-sets and also has a bass boost setting. Now it also has a thing for lyirics. I have not used that. I don't know why you would need to have the lyirics scrolling at the bottom, but if you do, I guess it can do that too, I hve not used that. I have found that the battery life is pretty good too. I like it, it is simple and to the point for us old people "43-45 set". Oh, yes, it has has a set of ear phones with it too. I have not tried them. I can only imagine that they are not so great. But then again I am very picky about how my music sounds so I can't comment on the head phones. I paid around $30 for them and I am completely satisfied!!! Review: Best Little MP3 Player - I always thought that I would buy one of the Apple iPods, but after spending some (poor) quality time with the horrible iTunes software, I was soon cured of that fantasy. The moral of the story is, "If you don't like iTunes, don't waste your money on an iPod". I really just wanted an player to "drag and drop" my MP3 album folders to and the Creative Muvo V100 was just what I had been waiting for! Just copy your album folders to the player. You can do it from any Windows PC, without having to install any special software. The player's scroll wheel will allow you to display each album. Go into the album to play the whole thing or select just the song that you want to hear. Audio quality is great (just get some good "in ear" headphones). Controlling the player with the little wiggle wheel takes some getting used to. Battery life is good (turn off the backlight and it will play twice as long). One caution - if you let the battery run completely out, the player's firmware can become corrupted (it happens to me about 1 out of every 10 times when I let the battery go completely dead). Don't worry - you can fix your "brick" by going to the Creative web site and downloading the "MP3 Recovery Tool". Now that the price has dropped to $19.99 I'm buying two more! >>> 5 Month Update (03/27/2007) <<< This little player is still going strong. I have dropped it and sat on it several times - it still works! The latest firmware release seems to have finally fixed the "brick" problem. The little battery door is loose, so I secure it with a small piece of electrical tape. Too bad the price went back up!

Best Little MP3 Player

Works great, could have more memory
I originally purchased the 2GB version when it was first released for $70. Now I can't believe I got that deal! The 2 GB version is no longer available, so I had to settle for this 1 GB version for my son. --- PROS --- It runs on a single AAA battery for 18 hours. The battery was a must for me because I can't stand a device that you have to plug in and wait to recharge if it runs out. Regular batteries are cheap and easy to come by. I use rechargeable batteries, but if I was ever caught without a replacement, I can buy an AAA battery just about anywhere. It's really small. A lot of the newer players are small now or even smaller than this, but back when I bought it that wasn't the case. The part with the LCD pulls out of the battery compartment and works as a mini thumb drive. Handy. The buttons make it easy to operate without looking at the player. Parental controls on max volume. Also works as a digital voice recorder. --- CONS --- The navigation could be more robust and snappier. It needs more storage space for music. Limited playlist support.

Inexcusable "documenation"
If you think you will learn anything about how to use this product by reading the documentation, forget it. It is useless. The product supposedly has a microphone and can be used a digital recorder. There is no mention of this capability in the manual. The item was returned.

Performance is good but lacks accesories
I purchased the Creative nano 1GB at Christmas and was impressed with performance and accesories that were included for the price. I then purchased the muvo v100 which is almost identical to the nano but a little larger and has a direct USB plug-in. For essentially the same price, I did not get any accesories(a armband, skin, or belt clip) I had to purchase an armband from Creative for about what the player cost, because was not availiable anywhere else. Creative also charged my card wrong for the armband. So use caution when dealing with this
