so im looking for a starter board, would you recommend this for a first one? also is this like the standard length or is it  longer? Thanks!

YES this is a really great starter board! It is a really nice board that is fun to ride! It takes you where you need to go and it does it in a decent amount of time. This is around the standard length for a board. The longer the better which is what I think of it. Skate on!

i am  a heavy person, about 230 lbs of weight, can this board hold my weight?

I bought this board as a gift for my 19 year old son, who weight around 185.  He has been on it consistently since Christmas 2012.  Since there is 45 pounds difference, I can't say definitively but I can say this is a strong board and I would think you would have no problems using this at that weight.  Seems to be very sturdy and well made.

Question 3

Looking for a good ,sturdy beginner board. He will be 9. I have seen some people say its good for 8-10 and another said it was not. he is athletic.

The Quest should work fine. It'll be very large but shouldn't be a problem for him. The board is extremely sturdy and won't get dinged up from regular use. I got the board for my 13yr. old daughter, she's tiny (84lbs), and has no problems with it. My 11yr old son also uses the board and loves it. I ride it and it's very smooth and maneuverable. To give the board a little more maneuverability I would suggest loosening the trucks a bit, they come from the factory very tight. I researched longboards  extensively before Christmas and found that the Quest was one of the top five cruisers available. I understand why after making the purchase. I also saved big bucks compared to the other boards. This isn't really a beginner board per se. It's great for beginners but it's also a great long term board. If I can be of further assistance just let me know.
