Handy, Helpful and Lots of Fun!
How I wish I’d had this clever little book 25 years ago when I was working with a team of Irish craftsmen when I was building my house. They tried to teach me a few handy phrases but it would have been so much fun to watch their expressions when I came back with a few of my own. I’m looking forward to a post-pandemic time when I can gather with my friends of Irish heritage and share my new-found linguistic skills. And you can be sure this book will be tucked in my carry-on for that top-of-bucket-list trip to Ireland when its safe to travel again.

Very entertaining and informative!
A fun book filled with all one needs to know to get along in the old country. What I found most interesting is how many of the sayings that I heard from out of the mouths of my relatives over the years came from Ireland! Is's a great find. Although the book is small and can be carried around very easily, I did find that having a bit larger print would have been helpful

Fun and Entertianing
This book is the perfect bite sized read, and it's exactly what it says it is: a fun exploration of Irish turns of phrase and what they mean. The book includes explanations of Irish idioms, names for things that are called different (or don't exist) elsewhere, and sectioned areas of Irish cultural interest. This is a great book, and will absolutely save me some confusion when I get around to visiting. I'll probably be giving these out as stocking-stuffers this Christmas.

An Delightful and Clever Irish Word Tour!
Aimee Alexander’s little gem of a book is essential for anyone who grew up as I did with her parents’ and grandparents’ speech being peppered with funny little words and seemingly nonsensical expressions. It’s cleverly presented, accompanied by delightful drawings by her daughter. If you’re planning a post-Covid trip to Ireland or are simply interested in the roots of a lively and lovely language, don’t miss it. It’s a quick, fun read....the best thing since sliced bread! 😉

A splendid book for anyone who likes the Irish
Aimee Alexander is a dab hand at writing. I love all her books and if you don’t understand what dab hand means in Irish, then you need to buy this buladh bos book to find out! I was jammy to read this little book of Irishisms hot off the press. I now know that the Irish have about as many words to describe drunk as the Eskimo’s have for snow! Buy it, you’ll like it!
