is this hat waterproof?

It's not full grain leather. It compound leather...2 layers over a cotton centre. It's more for a cool look and general wear rather than an outdoor adventure. Have a search for full grain hats (I wear Bharma hats normally) Again, it a lovely hat and pick up some waterproof spray in the £/€ store and that would be perfect

Can the leather band around the crown of the hat be removed? Looking to buy this for a project but only if the band can be taken off and is not fixed

The leather band is fixed dudes "quite well too" but not sure if glued or stitched
