This was our second okuma purchased!!! We were so pleased with the first Okuma reel we bought that we decided to purchase this as a gift for my father along with a brand new rod. The first time this rod went out fishing my dad was literally hooked!! We purchased braid line- 40#, and it was able to hold quite a bit of line. Our dad calls it the lucky reel because he said it catches fish every time. 😂 He has not had any issues, it handles very smooth and for the price you are getting such a quality product.

Well typical Akuma real works as should the drag is really smooth fit and finish is really really nice the only bad thing is the bait feeding drag is crap.

I love this reel. Is it a Shimano? No. But I don’t need that on a Catfish rod that’s going to take tremendous abuse from fish and to be honest, me, because I am clumsy and hard on equipment. This is a solid, cost effective Bait Runner that let’s me have the fish hook itself (thank you BKK ringed mutsu hooks, I love you so much) because again, I am kind of clumsy. The bait runner feature and the price point on Okuma’s has let me start experimenting with Bait Runners on my ultra lift finesse rigs. It casts well, reels in smoothly, and has solid drag for a reel at this price point, and bonus, it looks nice. For now. Give me a season to beat the tar of it. But since my most used rig is an 8 year old Okuma and I have beat the bejesus out of that and it still works, I am not worried about it over the long term. I have become an Okuma fan girl since I started fishing later in life. These are great value rights for people learning. I would put these on anything I gifted a child, a teenager or someone first learning who needs to learn technique without worrying about breaking their gear.

Por fin llegó a la Isla de Margarita, Venezuela... Es el reemplazo de mi viejo Okuma Cedros CJ 80s. No pongo en la basura los carretes y cañas caidos en la batalla y que me dieron buenas capturas, las pongo en un sitio en mi residencia para recordarlos. Mi primer impresión es que es fuerte y bien construido, suave al recoger línea, le puse una arandela suplemento y todo muy bien. Ya viene engrasado y aceitado, buen peso para una caña de 12 pies, donde lo usaré en pesca de orilla. Aún no lo uso, pero es mi 5to Okuma y con todos me ha ido muy bien. Estará en mi próxima jornada de pesca. La caja donde vino es un poco débil y llegó rota, pero el equipo muy bien. Deberían proteger proteger más la mercancía.

I’ve had the ABF 8000 for many years and decided to grab another 8000! Amazing price for performance. Super smooth and easy retrieval with some weight on the line compared to the KastKing Sharky 3 Baitrunner 6000 reel. Running 40lb braid no problem.

i used this reel yesterday, loaded up with 8lb line and fished on a feeder rod, caught plenty of fish (carp) and the bait runner feature was very useful, very smooth with excellent drag. Overall very impressed for the price and will buy another one soon.
