Let’s be real: nobody buys 7.5 mg of methylfolate for fun. You buy it because your doctor told you your folate levels are in the basement. Easy to swallow, though if I don't grab a drink and swallow it quickly enough I wind up with a temporary weird (not horrible) taste on the back of my tongue.

I bought this due to learning I have the mthfr gene mutation which my doctor described as me not being able to use folic acid properly so I need to take L-Methylfolate to be able to get the vitamins. I did some research and found that folic acid is linked to depression, which I have been living with for about 20 years in addition to ADHD. Being on ADHD and depression medicines worked for focus and not having the super low lows that can come with these struggles but with a big side effect. I wasn’t happy even when I should be, I could get things done but couldn’t relax, I could think but it was slower and for lack of a better way to explain, I lost my words. Speaking or writing in general was a mess. I would stop in the middle of a sentence to try and decider the word that I wanted to use but couldn’t find it. The meaning of what I was trying to say would be lost in my attempts to find the correct words or phrases and figure out how to pronounce them. Writing was chaos. As my job is writing all day long this was a hinderance to say the least. Sentences would be run on. I would rewrite a simple sentence or two 3-4 times and end up repeating myself or leaving out important information. Overall what would be written was messy and couldn’t flow well in reading. I started taking these in the 7.5 mg dose. Within HOURS I realized that I was writing more clearly. It hit me like a ton of bricks actually. I had written a message to a customer, about something that comes up often, and the wording that I used was beautiful. It was what I call writing pretty because the words flow together, I makes sense and the full meaning behind the words is evident while reading and without any need to think about what is meant. Easy to say, I was excited. I am still excited to be able to think and express myself well again. Even just a few days in I feel wonderful. My other half, who has been diagnosed with depression, and our daughter, who is showing signs of depression too, have started taking these too and showing that it is helping them too! I don’t believe in “cure alls” but fully believe that a lack of vitamins and nutrients impact our well being and mental health. If you have depression or just feeling low a lot, check with your doctor to see if you could be low. Should it be found you need extra folic acid, these are the way to go.
