I'm not very good with high-loft irons on short chips and bump & runs around the green. This works for me in those situations. The loft approximates 45 degrees, similar to a standard pitching wedge but is suited for the 5-20 yard shot. Bonus is that in that "once a year" time when you cannot take a natural-side stance (for instance very close to a tree trunk), you can swing as a lefty with this club (I'm a righty) and deliver a better outcome than if you flip a traditional iron over to hit with. This club is non-conforming for tournament play, but it is a club a recreational golfer will like and use for 1 to 3 shots per round. I only carry 13 clubs, including four wedges (PW, 52, 60, and this is one of the four).
