Stories Without Words

Pyramid is my favorite song listed, but this CD/MP3 album is chock loaded with great songs for those that appreciate the older Spyro Gyra music. This is the band/group that got me into the smooth jazz genre with "Morning Dance", but they kept it going strong through these years as is evidenced by the sweeping saxophone of frontman Jay Beckenstein and the awesome magician on keyboards, Tom Shuman. Though I highlighted 2 band members, all shine in their time on this album. For those with a collection of Spyro titles, this should definitely be in your table of contents.

Was slightly warped when I received it, but still playable; Not everybody treats or stores records properly, and normally I wouldn't buy one without being able to check it out in person, but I could not find this one locally! Overall worth it to flesh out my collection of this group's Albums!

Spyro Gyra poursuit sur sa lancée des albums "Alternating Currents" et "Breakout". Après des débuts prometteurs entre 1978 et 1981 avec "Spyro Gyra" , "Morning Dance", "Catching The Sun" et "Free Ride" leurs albums suivants "Incognito" et "City Kids" avaient pris, à mon avis, des accents trop pop dénaturant un peu leur marque de fabrique qui est un savant mélange entre jazz, funk, latin, rock, soul et pop.Au milieu des années 1980 ils ont trouvé une formation plus stable notamment avec l'arrivée du guitariste Julio Fernandez et du batteur Richie Morales. Ils délivrent alors des albums bien ancrés dans leur époque, avec une identité bien remarquable et plein d'audace. Le meilleur reste à venir avec l'album "Rites Of Summer" en 1988 mais "Stories Without Words" met la barre déjà très haute.
