Amazing and it works well

Good value for the money
I used this engine on a Ryan sod cutter replacing a Briggs 8hp. I had to use a longer belt and buy a crank pulley but it works and runs good.

good value with plenty of power
I purchased this motor to replace a thirty-five-year-old 5 h.p. Tecumseh motor on my snow blower. Installation was pretty straightforward, and the mounting base lined up perfectly with the old motor mount holes. Be aware that the exhaust does extend out a bit from the shaft side of the engine, but in my case this did not create any issues. I could see where it might create some problems depending on your installation. I followed the instructions, and the engine started on the first pull brand-new. Even in cold weather it will start on the first or second pull. I like the fact this comes with a couple of places to insert a throttle cable, and also allows you to use rather generic cables. I could see this as a definite plus for go kart users, and it's certainly a nice feature for my snow blower. The gasoline tank capacity Is larger than my old motor, and less refilling it's a nice thing. It seems to be fairly economical on gas as well. I'm not crazy about the plastic choke and fuel lever. Plastic tends to become brittle over time, and I can see these snapping off. One star removed. The throttle linkage is not the smoothest in the world, and the stamped metal is very cheap. I can also see the cooling fins for the impeller are plastic, but I'm not sure that's much of an issue in their location. The air cleaner is completely plastic with a rather generic piece of foam as a filter. For my snow blower, I will probably just remove this as dust is not a real big issue in the winter! I suspect better quality filters are available for the go cart users out there. In terms of power this run circles around my old Tecumseh. My snow blower is better than it was brand-new powering through just about anything I can throw at it, and speaking of throwing, it tosses the snow out of the ballpark. A fantastic performer! I just hope it runs for the longer haul. For the price, if it lasted three or four years, I probably just buy another one. I know a lot of people are buying these from harbor freight, but here in Alaska shipping is outrageous, and HF ships fourth class mail. For the twenty-seven dollars I paid in shipping, it was well worth it as it was sent UPS, and I had it within a week. I'm sure the vendor probably spent sixty or seventy dollars getting it here. update January 2017. I use this Engine on my snowblower, probably about four or five times a year. So, it has not seen a whole lot of use. I went out today to move some heavier snow, and the engine suddenly died. I peeked down and notice oil squirting out the side of the block. It appears it's coming out of the oil pressure probe/sensor. Not sure if the engine is toast or not, but I've never seen a small engine do this or what caused it. I was definitely pushing the engine a bit, but seems like it should have handled things okay. So, I would say I've gotten about 15 uses out of this. I typically go about 45 min. at a time, so something like 11.25 hours? Not exactly stellar performance. In the uploaded photo, the oil is coming from where the yellow wire goes into what i think is the pressure sensor. If anyone can help, please post a comment below. Maybe an easy fix?
