It is really squirrel proof and it also lasts longer than other feeders.

This worked a treat! We have ordered superior food in this case Sunflower hearts but the squirrels found a way with the other feeders to jump, hang and empty the standard feeders and even knaw though plastic. I was worried we was going to go through a lot of feed and the smaller birds not getting anything. This is metal construction so more durable but the mechanism works a treat for the lighter birds which means the feed is reserved for them where the squirrels and larger birds use the other feeders and ground feeders. This gives us more control on the food distribution for the different visiting wildlife. Check the video of the squirrel trying…Also it’s easy to fill.

Je ne suis pas satisfaite, j'avais exprès acheté ce produit à cause des rongeurs dans mon jardin, et malgré tous les réglages, les rats continuent à venir se nourrir la nuit des graines pour oiseaux !! L'idée était bonne, mais si j'avais su je n'aurai pas investi autant pour acheter ce produit !

This has been an effective deterrent to the local squirrels who were undeterred by rolling poles or anything else we devised to stop them pinching the food. The food does not go mouldy because of the holes in the base of the tray. The internal tube is divided so the food fits in three containers. Just enough appears at the bottom and the whole feeder puts up with birds landing on the outside cage as well as seated on the loops at the bottom.The little birds were a little surprised at first and tended to look a bit startled when someone else landed and spun them around from their perch away from the windows of the house. The goldfinches who visit regularly look as though they are sitting at a table dining on the best food - it's only sunflower hearts! The spring works perfectly and food disappears if the heavier birds land on a perch. Squirrels have no hope and have left and gone elsewhere as the scraps tossed out by others seem to be unappealing. It was really helpful to find the weights of birds listed in the leaflet that came with the feeder. It's easier to fill and the birds seem to love it. Well worth the money and the seed seems to go further as there seems to be a lot less wastage due to the fact that the seed are taken from the bottom tray. Well worth the money and the mini feeder is perfect as I fill it less than the other feeder and the seed lasts a lot longer but the birds still get fedJuly 2016 I recently bought this for my stepmother who was having problems with squirrels and she is delighted with it. The larger birds don't come near although a few baby magpies tried their luck while the parent birds looked on being older and wiser and knowing it wouldn't work. The smaller birds seem delighted with the whole thing. Well worth the money and the information on bird weights is a real bonus.
