Premium Bellemain Burr Coffee Grinder with 17 Settings for Drip, Percolator, French Press and Turkish Coffee Makers.

This is a terrific little grinder. I now own 3 burr grinders: 2 electric and one manual/hand grinder. My first, which is still in use in my cubicle at work, was a Bodum Bistro. Next was a manual/hand grinder, and then I purchased this Bellemain grinder. If I were to buy myself another or as a gift for a friend or family member, I'd buy this one again, lest I know the person I'm buying it for only drinks a cup or two a day, really enjoys the labor of a manual grinder, and is discerning enough to taste a significant difference between an automatic burr grind and a manual grind. The only difference I think of between the two is the speed at which the beans are ground. Not many people can or would grind one or more cups worth of beans as quickly with a manual grinder as an electric. As a result, there is VERY little heat generated with a manual grinder. This arguably creates a slightly different taste. The Bellemain grinder does not grind at as high an RPM as the Bodum, so I like to think it's a nice middle ground. The size and shape of the Bellemain makes it very convenient to fit under or in a cabinet, or on a countertop. For this, the Bellemain is better than my Bodum as well. The timer works very well and the auto shutoff is a nice feature if there are too few beans for the time and grind you select. The timer is long, compared to the Bodum, meaning if I select 2 cups, it runs longer than the Bodum, providing a little more ground coffee, but that also works well for my tastes (of course you can and should adjust the time per your taste). I pretty well run the range of grinds. I like to brew a rich cup on weekends with my french press, use an auto-drip (timer) coffee maker weekday mornings so my wife and I have a cup ready upon waking, and prefer to use a pour over for 2-3 cups during the day at work. The only thing I don't do/make is espresso (coming soon). This grinder does a fantastic job with remarkably good consistency for all of these. That said, all burr grinders are challenged to make very consistent grounds for french press brewing. I've found that grinding 2- settings lower than the "press" setting works very well. The grinds are quite consistent and still large enough to produce excellent, non bitter flavor, while still being large enough that you don't end up with a load of sludge in the bottom of your cup. I also set the grind 2-3 settings lower than the low end of the auto-drip setting for my drip machine, and 1-2 lower than that for pour over. Now I'm getting into very subjective territory though. Bottom line is: this is a very nice, good quality burr grinder. You'll have to experiment with it some to find the best settings for your taste, coffee bean selection, and brewing method. It has enough different settings to find the right one for you. Is it noisy- yes, but no more so than the Bodum or any other. Accept that there will be noise while using an electric burr grinder. Static- yep, but again, they all produce it. This produces less than my Bodum, and surprisingly little for all the work it does. Dust/messy- surprisingly little if any escapes during grinding or upon removal of the bin with grounds. Only when brushing/cleaning do I end up with some coffee dust/residual on the counter. Again- all of them will have some, but this has very little compared to my Bodum. Cleaning- pretty easy, and (I think) should be done regularly. I brush/clean the dispensing unit after every use. It's worth the 30 seconds it takes, but probably doesn't have to be done every time. I just like to ensure all the grinds I get are as fresh as can be. Lastly, I've been using this Bellemain daily for just over a month now, so I can't speak to the long term quality, but it feels like it's in this with me for the long haul. I'll update if any quality issues arise.

This is THE best thing in good and affordable grinding next to manual precision grinding. Yes you need to fiddle a bit to get the fine grind you want (see a copy from another post that convinced me to by this grocer at the end of this review (credits to Rad Kal Stam)). Yes it has static powder and needs good cleaning, but that's the case for any, if not all, (affordable) electric grinders. But it delivers a great grind, fast, almost no noice and with an easy of us thanks to the set and forget setting. You start the grind and can go on with your other business. Copy on how to improve the grind settings to get a finer grind (compared to the out-of-the-box settings): Grind setting was not good from the factory. The finest setting was giving very coarse pieces. I opened it up to see if it can be adjusted. It only takes 4 screws to modify outside the initial grind range. Unplug it, take out the grinding wheel, and then remove three small screws in the bean hopper. When the hopper is off, it is only one more screw to remove the grind setting dial. Since I wanted finer grounds, I started with the dial on #1, took the dial off, and moved it to display a #7. Put everything back together, moved it to a #1, and the grounds are great now! Perfect pucks out of my Aeropress. It might work for people who need coarser grounds as well, just start with a #14 before taking it apart.

So much review drama for a coffee grinder! I was a little nervous to buy it, but I just needed a backup grinder while my Breville Espresso machine is being repaired (with the built-in burr grinder.) Honestly, it works find for coarser grinds. In addition to the espresso machine (my #1), we also have an aeropress, Chemex, beehouse pourovers, Moka pot, and French press. My only issues with this grinder is that even on the finest setting, it never seems to grind that fine. So I'm just using the coffee gadgets that don't need a superfine grind for the time being. Had I spent a lot of money on this, not getting a superfine grind would be a problem. But for what it costs, I can adapt until I get my espresso machine back. It's a good backup grinder. And what it does grind seems to be nice and consistent.

I'm giving this burr grinder FIVE star rating for the following reasons: 1) It's quite inexpensive considering other options 2) It does a WONDERFUL job grinding coffee as compared to the hand grinder I have been using for the last year Feedback from first week of use: - It's rather loud, FYI. I suspect many other grinders are loud, but it has a sort of "buzzy", raucous loudness to it. If you're sneaking downstairs to make your wife coffee while she still sleeps away the morning.. fughetaboutit! You'll wake the house! - The grinds come out perfect (setting 13) - light, somewhat like powdery snow - The taste of the coffee has been terrific - not bitter at all. So far, I am loving the upgrade from the hand grinder - Clean-up is easy, and the unit sits nicely on the counter next to our coffee maker Overall, a very frugal choice of burr grinder, but prepares great tasting coffee!

I was very excited for this grinder because it allowed you to choose how much to grind and how coarse you wanted it. Worked ok at first, but we've had it less than a month and it's malfunctioning. We are returning it and buying a different one. The grind was never great--doesn't get very fine at all. At best, a medium grind. I was ok with that at first because it was mostly going to be used with our Chemex and we already have a small grinder that does a fine grind for our espresso, so I was going to let that go. But a couple days ago, it just stopped working. It made a noise like it was on, but nothing was grinding. I think a bean was jamming it up, so I cleaned it out and then it started working again. But just now my husband used it and it ground every bit of beans we had in the reservoir instead of the indicated amount. Three strikes and we're done with this. I don't recommend this product at all, unless we just happened to get a lemon. But I am not taking the chance. I will be returning this as soon as this review is submitted and ordering a different grinder. I'm just glad it malfunctioned while I was still within the return window!

I am a coffee lover and am also very picky about my experiences with it. My previous grinder was a Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill which I used for about 5 years. It contracted a problem due to its design limitations so I bought the Bellemain grinder instead. Glad I did. The Bellemain is quieter than the Cuisinart and hasn't broken. It is easy to operate, grinds quickly and somewhat neatly (they all create some kind of mess on my kitchen counter). I use the espresso setting for regular dark coffee and a number 4-size coffee filter cone. I get a perfect cup every time! One thing to watch out for is the interlock switch on the top cover (you must get a tight fit or the grinder won't run). Like all grinders of this type, you must keep the exit hole clean or it will plug up and the grinder will stop. Get a cleaning brush to address this issue. I bought this grinder from an Amazon re-seller named Perella's (no longer around) for $33.95 in July 2017 and today (September 2017) the price is over $100 with shipping. I am guessing that Perella's was getting rid of excess inventory. Not sure I would pay $100 for this item today as other models are going for less than $50. But It's a very good product.

I've had this grinder for 3 months. About me, I'm not a coffee snob but I really like freshly ground coffee first thing in the morning. After using this grinder for a while, I've put my pros and cons below Pros: -Price. For what I needed, the price is what attracted me to this unit -size. Compact and easily fits on my counter -color. I like the look of the grinder, in general. -consistant. I've used the same beans (generally) for the past 3 months. With one exception (below), I always get the same type of grind. Mind you the grind is not all the same size, but it's the same Cons: -Loud. Like this is 'wake up your children time to get out of bed' loud. -Dirty. I get coffee grounds everywhere. It's come to the point where I only empty grounds over the sink - but I usually leave a trail of grounds. This, I think, is a design flaw with the ground coffee container. -Dry beans = strange noise. I got some beans from a buddy and ran them through this thing - it went from 'wake your children time to get out of bed' to 'Holly cow, I hope no one calls the cops'. These beans were very, very dry. I removed the old beans and put in my standard and the noise went back to normal -small bean holder. I need to refill the beans every morning, I like stronger coffee but this gets old when I just want my darn coffee Overall, it does the job but next time I'd spend a bit more for a cleaner, quieter, and larger bean holder. But, for the price - it does the job.

My original review is below and most of it stills stands, the grinder works well, however, the cleaning process has become a major chore. The manufacturer responded to my complaint with "I don't understand the problem, please send pictures". At this point I have time to return it so most likely will do so. Considering all factors, price, operation and maintenance, I will rate the Bellemain grinder a 4. Prior to purchase I read enough reviews on here to know where to start with my settings, and also decided to put a damp paper towel down under the grinder to catch the grounds that escape when removing the coffee drawer. Having used it just once (it arrived this afternoon), I found setting 9 produced a robust, strong cup of coffee via my Bunn drip coffee maker. My preferred afternoon blend is a dark or medium decaf bean mixed with a strong regular bean called "cowboy" blend. Here I sit, sipping and typing to an excellent cup of coffee with a bit of heavy cream and a dollop of whipped cream on top. Heavenly! To sum it up, the grinder does the job and for the price you have a great cup of coffee. My old Krups blade grinder was grinding coffee that tasted worse with each pot. The mess is present, however, with some due caution you may avoid most of it. I withdrew the drawer after tapping the grinder and carried it over to the sink where I then removed the lid and poured the grounds into an awaiting filter. From that point, I rinsed and dried both pieces. Additionally, I noted that the discharge chute was mostly plugged with fine powder, so I took the entire machine to the sink and brushed it clear. A bit of a fuss and some extra time, but no mess on the counter or floor. This machine is actually quieter than my old krups lawnmower style blade machine. I'm going to work with this machine over the weekend to fully assess it. If my opinion changes, I'll be back to update this review.

Pas de mouture espépresso

Wasn't sure how much to spend on a burr type grinder to get quality. Had this 6 mos now and it gets use every day sometimes twice a day. Its accurate relatively quiet and grinds perfectly. I looked at burr grinders at the 300$ mark. No need. This one meets all my standards and then some. Consistent grinds all the time. I'm super happy with it.
