Best Water Pillow
The best pillow I've ever purchased. I've went through countless pillows over the years. I wish I had purchased this pillow along time ago, it would have saved us so much money on buying so many other pillows that we've been through and would have saved us from the pain. It has alleviate my Husband's head/neck pain, and my jaw pain the other pillows caused us. We no longer wake up with headaches. It's lasted for over 6 months now before we had to refill with water, so far. You can adjust the firmness to your liking. When we have to sleep on other people's pillows or hotel pillows, we definitely feel the difference. Now we take the pillows with us where ever we go. We will be purchasing more for our guest bedrooms, and to give as gifts.

Outstanding Product
EDITED: After reading about 10 recent reviews I had to edit this one. It is NOT HEAVY.. Actually if you ever had a FIRM Down Pillow I would say the weight is about the same. Swing it around in a pillow fight. Why would you want to do that to a GOOD Pillow that is for sleeping. Want to pillow fight have another polyester or down pillow on bed for that. Propping up in bed. As one reviewer said, Have a couple of NON SLEEP pillows on bed for that. Although I do not find this pillow to be that heavy I would not abuse it by using it for propping. The pillow kept its height and shape all night and look pretty much like it did before I slept on it. I found that I did not have to sleep with my hand under it to prop my head up. My head rested on it as it should and wrapped around my neck supporting my neck. I find to get full support you must make sure the bottom of it is above your shoulders and not under them. Bottom Line, every one has an opinion and knows what works for them and their sleep problems. I do not see this pillow leaking in the near future if treated well. I am a back, side and stomach sleeper and it worked well with any position I was in last night. Great head and neck support and just what it is supposed to do. ORIGINAL Review: I got the product yesterday and could not wait to use it last night. Been waking up in the morning for months with stiff neck and terrible headaches. Although my neck is still a little stiff it is not as stiff as sleeping with out the pillow and headache is gone... I really do feel alot better and more able to face the world this morning. i filled it to medium but think that I might try the firm in a week or so . i slept on a waterbed for years and loved it . But can't risk putting it in the trailer I am living in now. Will definitely assemble it once I finish my Wood frame house. There is just nothing better for a good rest than a waterbed. Would always recommend that there be a regular bed in the spare room for anything but sleep, If you get my drift. Again this pillow is great and i anticipate my neck and headache to disappear soon. Only thing I could recommend to make this pillow 100% perfect is to do the filling with wool instead of polyester fiber polyester fibers do not hold up as well and do not breathes.. Wool breathes and stay cooler than anything else. They say that you can wash and dry the pillow (minus the water, LOL) but I would not recommend that.. I got a pillow protector and with the added pillow case you should have a great feeling and looking pillow for years to come.

Good pillow with faulty instructions
It was an unexpected struggle for us to get this ready for use. The pillow is a combination of a cushion and a parallel bag for water. The instructions show the method of standing the pillow on its end on a chair, and firmly pushing on the upper part to get out the unwanted air pocket after using the provided funnel to pour the water in. The test for seeing if the air pocket has been squeezed out is supposed to be checking to see if the pillow sloshes - If it does, the instructions say to do the process over. We did this numerous times over the course of two days, and no matter how much or little water we poured in, and how hard the two of us together pushed to squeeze out the air pocket, the pillow would still slosh loudly like an old water bed. We wrote to the company explaining our problem. They replied quickly, but basically just repeated the same instructions we already had. We did finally find the solution:-- Test the pillow ON THE BED where you're going to use it. Unlike what the instructions say, the test is NOT to expect no sloshing if you're just holding the pillow - it will always slosh. The test is putting it on the bed, and seeing if there's any annoying sloshing when you lay down, put your head on it, and try it out. It was a drag we hassled with this so long simply because the instructions are not accurate and should be rewritten. Now that the pillow has been used for about two months, my wife is happy enough with it, finds it firm and supportive without being too unyielding. It's not necessarily The Best Pillow she's ever used, but feels it's doing the job she expected. SO - the lesson is: Test for sloshing with the pillow in position on your bed, not in the kitchen where you've filled it with water.

The Pillow to Beat All Pillows!
4/2/14 UPDATE: I am STILL using this pillow and am STILL raving about it to friends and family. I've never had a pillow last me this long without flattening out or falling apart! 10/12/2011: I have only written one review for an online item in all the years of ordering online. This pillow review will be my second. From the first night of having this pillow, I have slept like a baby! It's hard to imagine a pillow with water making such an impact not only on your sleep but your well-being as well. Filling the pillow with the right amount of water was a breeze; it comes with a screw in funnel that makes it very easy. As long as you follow the directions given for the firmness you desire you'll not have a problem. Just make sure when you squeeze the air out that you don't squeeze too much! I did that and squeezed some of the water out. No big deal, just a tip. Then, sleeping on it is like sleeping on the last pillow you will ever need. A pillow you get to determine whether it's soft or firm or in between is just the thing! But the deciding factor with this pillow was when I hurt my back carrying some heavy things into the house. I have a bad back that will tend to get muscle spasms, etc. and when I hurt my back I thought it would be hurt for weeks (just like every other time). I could barely move my neck within hours of injuring it (I couldn't look up or side to side). The next morning when I woke up I almost forgot that I had hurt my back the day before! I was only a little sore; that was my only reminder. Since I haven't changed anything else with my bed except the pillow the only thing I could chalk it up to was the Mediflow! To think it helped my back heal overnight! I'll tell you what; they will have to pry this out of my dead hands before I will give it up. In fact, I just purchased more for my entire family after they found out my back was better! They couldn't believe it; they know as well as I that once I've hurt my back it used to take weeks to get better. So instead of spending $20-$200 on a pillow that may or may not be the best pillow for you, spend $30 something and buy the Mediflow. That way, you can make it just right for you, sleep like a baby and write it into your will that it goes with you. Trust me. You will never give this thing up!

MOLD TWICE!
Years ago when I was having neck pain, my chiropractor recommended a Chiroflow water pillow, which they sold at their office. I loved it, my neck pain disappeared. If I'm traveling by car and staying in hotels, I bring it with me (yes, heavy as it is). A little over 3 years ago, I wanted to get a new one and purchased a Mediflow pillow on Amazon (which appeared to be exactly the same as the Chiroflow, even the packaging). At some point, I put I bedbug/dust/mite-proof pillow cover on it and then just changed my pillowcase regularly. Early this year, I noticed mold on the pillow cover and even more mold on the bottom of the pillow itself. Gross! So, I purchased a new pillow which I received on Jan. 24, 2021 and a new pillow cover. Earlier this week, when I took off the pillow cover I saw mold again, less than 3 months after I received the pillow. There's a 3-year warranty on the pillow, but Mediflow wants you to cut out a 4"x4" piece of the pillow around the cap, send them a picture of it, along with a filling out a warranty return form. That's to "ensure that the pillow doesn't get resold or reused." (Who would buy a moldy used pillow?!) Then, within a MONTH, they'll send you a new pillow. And in the meantime, what do you sleep on? I was going to just buy a new one, and after I received it, cut up the old pillow and keep the replacement pillow Mediflow says it will send me as a spare. I thought perhaps the reason the mold had developed twice was because of the extra dust/mite/bedbug barrier pillow might be causing some miniscule amount of condensation. BUT, then I read the reviews here and several mention mold and/or leaking. Contrary to some what some reviewers said suggesting the users experiencing mold were at fault, I followed the directions exactly, and I did NOT get the outside of the pillow wet. Nowhere on the directions does it suggest using distilled water or adding a few drops of bleach to the water. Now I don't know what to do. My sleep is very important to me, and I've loved these water pillows for many years, but the thought of having the mold problem again is very discouraging. Even worse is the thought of having the pillow leak. ARGHHH! Not a happy camper.

Liked it at first, then didnt, now its okay.
Update again: I decided to keep the pillow and I'm still using it. It's still better than any pillow I have used in the last several years. I've added a star to my review. The only reason that it's still only 3 stars is because the pillow stuffing is wearing out already. 2 of the corners are missing stuffing. UPDATE: I have had this pillow for a couple of weeks now and it is definitely too thick of a pillow for my use. I have taken out the water little by little to try and adjust it so that my neck is aligned properly with the rest of me. It's just not cutting it. Will be ordering something else. I have had a really difficult time finding a pillow that helps my neck pain and headaches. So far, this pillow is much better than any I have used. I fall asleep much faster. The pillow is still pretty thick, but your head sinks right into it. I'm thinking if there was a tiny bit less stuffing on top of the water pouch, this would be the perfect pillow. I have tried many pillows in the past 2 years, none of which end up helping me. I have even slept on a can of baked beans at points to put pressure on the muscles at the base of my skull. Bottom line..... If you have an issue with headaches and bad neck pain upon waking every morning, give this pillow a try. You don't want a pillow to support your shoulders, only your neck.

Perfect for me, maybe not for everyone?
I'm a side sleeper with chronic neck pain and sinus blockage issues. Like many neck pain sufferers, I've tried just about every pillow out there. Found the buckwheat too hard, the memory foam too "sweaty" and just not all that comfortable ... many pillows worked for a while, then broke down and the neck pain came back. I had a decent experience with the Sweet Spot pillow, which has both a firm side and a softer side, and a unique area in the center of the pillow your head kind of sinks into. It worked for a long while, but like all foam pillows eventually breaks down, and over time I found myself increasingly waking in the night and scrunching my pillow for more support. My neck got so sore I went through a round of expensive xrays and visits to the D.O. Fast forward, and I found the Mediflow Waterbase pillow not quite two months ago and figured I had nothing to lose. I LOVE this pillow! It's the first self-molding pillow that actually seems to really conform to my shoulder height and provide full neck support. I am sleeping better, and through the night. I am sure I am turning over, but I'm not having to wake up to scrunch the pillow; it just conforms to my position as advertised. I think it helps that I used to sleep on a waterbed. Personally, I have always been a fan of the sort of rocking motion you can get from laying on a water-filled bladder - but some reviewers found that disconcerting. I haven't experienced any sloshing sounds - likely also becuase I knew how to "burp" a water bed. The trick is to do it immediately upon filling, as instructed, and again the next day after the air bubbles have had a chance to rise out of the water. Re: leaking ... first day woke up to find the pillow case and sheets damp around the filling cap. I used the tool provided to give the cap a good crank, and that took care of the problem - no more leaks. Yes, it's heavy - but the only time that bothers me is when when changing the pillowcase. It's a plus not to have to wake up to chase my pillow around the bed! My husband likes to stretch his arm across my side of the bed - which is nice, except his arm under a regular pillow cranks my head to an awkward angle that exacerbated my neck problems. Not so with the water pillow! Likewise, I had developed a bad habit of supporting my chin with my fist, which aggravated my TMJ issues. Now the pillow supports my neck and head fully, and my arm is free to tuck in wherever it feels comfortable. And there is no "off-gassing" or chemical odors like you can get with memory foam pillows. That'a a huge plus for me as those types of smells can aggravate my sinus issues. Last tip - I did get the allergy reducing pillow cover, but took the advice of another reviewer and did not order the quilted cover. I find the pillow soft enough without the extra bulk of an additonal cover. I love this pillow, and would recommend to anyone who is willing to put up with it's heft and adjust to the experience of sleeping on water.

Best nights sleep ever.
Love this pillow. Have tried more than I wish to remember for neck and head support, all being resigned to the loft for not wanting to dispose of new items. I have tried what feels like most pillows on the market which is I admit is probably an overstatement but so frustrating. The first night of using this was bliss, so comfortable and soft but very supportive. You can fill the level of water for "soft" "medium"or "hard" support, up to 5 litres of water which fills an underneath pocket next to the mattress that reaches the whole pillow base, topped inside the outer upper cover with soft but effective filling, it is like sleeping on air, it comes with a filler stopper which is easily screw removed with the provided tool, a funnel to fill which also doubles as a tightening screw stopper, once in the pillow case is not noticeable and lies snugly into the pillow. I have experimented with the water fill and have found that 4.5lt is perfect for me, however I would not say this is the usual uncomfortable level of firm/hard support but exactly what you need for good support whilst providing softness and comfort which a lot of other pillows don't, they just feel like sleeping on some sort of hard filling. Every time you move the pillow moves with you smoothly to contours of the head and neck, always changing shape never needing "plumping up", it maintains it's movement and as the water provides a lot of additional weight to the pillow you are not chasing it round the bed all night, it stays in place. Some reviews have said you can hear the water sloshing round on movement, if you follow the simple instructions and expel the air before securing the stopper after there is no noise on movement. I have had the best nights sleep in I don't know how long and neck and shoulder pain is much reduced. Have now ordered another for my husband. Would recommend. I would also add the pillow is very well made of high standard material and robust. Fits standard size pillow cases. Great for taking away with you as the inner can be emptied and refilled on arrival with tap water, instructions recommend replacing water after one year so low maintenance. To add my sleeping position varies from side sleeping on either side, to on my front with arm under pillow to on my back, all equally comfortable.

Best pillow for neck pain.
The pocket that can be filled with water allows one to control the height and firmness of the pillow while the very soft top filling provides comfort. I am a side sleeper but I believe it would be great for all. Obviously it is heavy and one must remove water before transporting. This is easily done, but measure the amount which is just right for you .

Great pillow
This pillow has helped me sleep comfortably with spinal degenerative disease. Aligns well, easy to find your preferred comfort level while adjusting water level. Price was great. Pillow has lasted a few years and is holding up great. Is very heavy when full of water.
