High-End On The Cheap With Perks
Having lived with a home theater speaker system for over 12 years, I upgraded parts of the system every several years: first the center channel speaker then the display panel then the tower speakers and, late in 2021, it was the subwoofer's (Premier Acoustic PA-120) turn. Based on my budget and my desire for accurate tonal balance (frequency response) at my seating positions, this was a challenge. I did not want to spend over $1,000 on any of my speakers nor the subwoofer yet I wanted flat and extended response. Up until now, this was simply unattainable because of the price constraint, my listening room's acoustics and the simple lack of lower-priced options in the market. My listening room is a 15 x 17-1/2 foot room with an opening (3-1/2 x 6 feet) near the the left front tower speaker. That missing corner leads to a hallway, a small foyer, and a family room. So the only practical remaining space for a wired subwoofer is the right front corner, which is where my previous subwoofer was located. The results were still terrible, as the bass was very uneven and there was a massive cancellation around 87 to 95 Hz, a massive hump around 46Hz and more uneven output down to 35Hz followed by very weak output in the 28Hz to 30Hz region. Using the typical built-in 2-EQ Audyssey in my receiver did nothing to help this. I had a choice of overbearing, woolly, thick and bloated Audyssey-EQ'ed bass or anemic bass. Desperate to remove my room from the equation, I decided to explore wireless systems several months ago and settled on a BIC WTR-SYS wireless transmitter/receiver system to turn my existing subwoofer into a wireless one so that I can place it as close to my listening position as possible. It was placed on a rear corner 3 feet to the left of my listening position (aligned to my sofa). This was much better with virtually none of the aforementioned uneven bass. But there was one problem: extension and transient speed. The bass was now limited to weak output at 35Hz. This isn't exactly bad but it's the kind of extension you would expect from an average bass module ("subwoofer" isn't exactly an appropriate term in this case) you'd buy at a discount warehouse. You might question my mention of transient speed and technical reviewers even clearly state that the sensation of bass tightness is possible only when accompanied by upper midrange from a source such as a bass pedal. But you know certain bass sounds should start and stop on a dime and you would notice them if they don't. It's the difference between a rumble or thud and a good lightning fast kick in the pants. This led me to read more professional subwoofer reviews. I needed extension preferably to at least 25Hz. After perusing the reviews, SVS kept standing out for its combination of low price and awesome extension at high sound pressure levels. Initially, I kept eyeing the holiday subwoofer sales on SVS' website of the PB-1000 but the somewhat more expensive and newer PB-1000 Pro stood out to me for its app that enabled super flexible parametric equalization adjustments in real-time via Bluetooth. I'm so glad I bought the latter a couple of weeks ago. The SVS PB-1000 Pro is slightly larger than my old sub but slightly lighter (at 50 lbs.). For the uninitiated listeners, the on-line manual is extremely helpful yet brief, especially in its discussion of placement options (corner placement, between the center and main front speaker or side wall). Much of the competition provides little detail here. In a few concise sentences, it describes the strengths of each placement option. From deduction you get a sense of what compromises are involved between the options. Then there is a discussion of placement options for those listeners who use two subs for more even bass coverage in the listening room. Simple illustrations clearly show the placement options and include the wireless configuration showing SVS' own wireless transmitter-receiver system. Using the same rear corner (sidewall) placement as my previous subwoofer, I used a sweeping low frequency tone to measure the sound pressure level (SPL) from 160Hz down to 20Hz. The results right out of the box were quite good with relatively flat bass. Without any adjustments the bass remained very strong to around 25Hz. Switching the polarity 180 degrees via the free downloadable SVS Subwoofer app and keeping the crossover frequency at the default 80Hz, I ensured that the front towers crossover was set at the same frequency and I left the power option to the default "On" position and the port setting to the default "open" setting for maximum bass extension. The real godsend was the parametric EQ of the app. It allowed me to control the Q (width) and amplitude of the adjustment at 3 different bass frequencies of my choice. That is, I was able to choose any 3 center frequencies of my choice and make adjustments to the Q at plus or minus 6dB. After some experimentation, I was easily able to obtain flat bass (plus or minus 3dB) down to the 20Hz limit of the swept bass tone. Finally, I used the receivers level calibration system and my SPL meter to set the volume of all channels to the same output level (volume) at my listening position. Of course, I used movie and music passages to evaluate the bass. The first 2 minutes of "Titanic" on Blu-ray as well as the climaxes gave a good sense of solid enveloping bass that remained clean even at high volume. The latest James Bond movie, "No Time To Die" was another good source. When Daniel Craig was in Safin's lab/factory the PB-1000 Pro gave an excellent forewarning of action when it produced nearly inaudible but very palpable, rhythmic, quick yet deep bass pulses. My previous sub was never able to do this. Turning over to music, I played the first and last track of James Horner's "Titanic" CD soundtrack. The unmistakable subsonic bass pressurized the listening room. Switching over to pop/rock material, I played Peter Gabriel's "Shaking The Tree", a track that effectively builds to a climax using big bass kick drums beginning in the middle of the song. At high volumes, you feel the rhythm of the bass in your gut. Finally, I slipped in a1987 release of Holst The Planets conducted by Charles Dutoit with the Orchestre smphonique de Montreal. If you want to hear and feel crescendos, the last 30 seconds of track 7 ("Uranus - The Magician") is skin tingling (or is it intestine jiggling). Even at fairly low volume the PB-1000 Pro made my skin tingle. Regardless of material or volume, the PB-1000 Pro never ran out of gas. There was no congestion of bass caused by the 12-inch driver bottoming out, no distortion, no bloat due to the driver stopping too slow. It just delivered the entire bass range in clean, quick, palpable, gut punching bass when called for. At the same time, it could properly give you a subtle hint of body when the music or movie passage was at lower volumes as well. Whether it's the extra thick surround of the 12-inch driver, the stiff driver material that keeps the driver moving in a pistonic motion even at high volume, the two front-firing ports that never produced any rude noises or chuffing, or the built-in high-powered Class-D amplifier or a combination of these things, I can't fault the performance of this subwoofer. For the average consumer, it may seem expensive but when he or she realizes what it can actually do compared to the competition, it is an unmistakable bargain.

Excellent bass response with a nice array of tuning options
I've been using an basic active subwoofer that came with my 7.1 Onkyo stereo set for about 10 years. My living room is 16x12 with standard ceilings, sub against the wall near the front corner. Bass was OK but never felt like it could hit the lows and only had gain control. I knew that a simple upgrade to my home stereo would be getting a quality subwoofer replacement. After researching and reading many reviews, I landed on the SVS PB-1000 Pro. I'm still not sure if I should have gone with the non-ported option, SVS SB-1000 Pro, or something from the 2000 series. That being said, I'm very happy with the SVS PB-1000 Pro. I was worried abut it being under powered at 325 watts RMS, as I have a 10" sub powered with 500 watt RMS in a sealed box in my custom car stereo. No worries there, this sub rocks my condo. I had to dial back the gain and I've been messing with the 'room compensation' option that seems to help keep it from too boomy in the 25-50 Hz range. I love me some bass and this sub can rock the low-low end, I just don't think my upstairs neighbors would love hearing my new setup as much as I do. I really only use the stereo with this sub to watch movies and TV, though I did try some music of different genres. Movies\TV shows are great with solid response on this sub. The intro to Netflix's 'Jessica Jones' sounded totally different with this sub adding a low end I didn't even know was there. 'A Quiet Place' sounded fantastic as the sub mixed very well in the action and tense senses, filling the my living room with a sense of dread. Bass heavy\EDM type of music sounded good, though I felt like I had to turn down the gain otherwise the sub would overpower the mix. Again I love bass but appreciate a balanced mix and don't want to bother the neighbors too much. I did sense some boomyness or port noise(?) on heavy hits, and that reminded me of my choice to get a sealed sub box in my car to achieve a more accurately timed and balanced sound. Some other music like mid 90s rock\alternative, classical, and soundtracks sounded good but kept the sub at a more tame level. Basically if the song is bass heavy, the sub will stick out more (I know obvious right?) and in most everything else the sub more purrs in the background. I think there's some mid-bass I'm missing with my stereo that most music needs that could be solved by raising the sub crossover from my 120Hz to 200Hz, though that would muddy the sub a bit. Next on my list is to upgrade my primary speakers - center, left, and right, to try to get better room-filling sound with richer mid-bass and more accurate highs. Overall, solid 'A' grade from an experienced bass-head and picky listener. Big and solid sound. Really nice to have a wide range of controls with the Bluetooth app. Seems to be quality material and a good value for the sub + box + amplifier components. I may get the port plugs and try out how the sub sounds as a psuedo-sealed box.

Superbly tight bass and theatrical effect
The SVS PB-1000 Pro is one of those rare subs that instantly elevates your whole setup the moment you plug it in. If you want chest-filling bass thatโs both powerful and controlled, without spending crazy money, this is hands down one of the best options on the market. Bass Performance, Deep, Tight, and Surprisingly Precise The PB-1000 Pro digs deep. Weโre talking bass you donโt just hearโyou feel. Even in large rooms, it delivers room-shaking low-end extension without losing clarity. Movies hit harder, explosions feel cinematic, and music gains weight and realism. The ported design gives you that big, enveloping bass, but SVS manages to keep it clean and tight rather than boomy. Music + Movies are Equally Impressive Some subs excel at movies and fall apart with music. Not this one. Kick drums stay punchy instead of muddy, bass guitars have definition, and low synth notes remain smooth all the way down. For home theater, the PB-1000 Pro brings impact that makes even familiar scenes feel brand new. For music, it fills out the low end without overwhelming mids or highs. The app control is Genuinely Useful SVSโs Bluetooth app isnโt a gimmick, itโs easily one of the most convenient features. Adjust volume, phase, room gain, and EQ presets right from your seat. It makes dialing in the sub much easier than crawling behind it over and over. Performance for the Price, Outstanding Value This sub competes with models that cost dramatically more. The amount of output and control SVS squeezed into this price range is impressive, and the build quality is excellent. You can push it hard without distortion, and it never feels like itโs struggling. Final Verdict The SVS PB-1000 Pro delivers deep, thunderous bass with refinement, backed by modern features and exceptional engineering. Whether youโre building your first serious home theater or upgrading a mid-level system, this is one of the smartest buys you can make. If you want bass thatโs powerful, clean, and genuinely fun, the PB-1000 Pro will absolutely make you smile.

Amazing sub for hybrid use in condo/apartment
Home theater reviewers consider this an entry-level sub, but if you live in a condo/apartment or have a smaller theater room, this is probably your end game. It delivers on the theater bass experience that apartment neighbors will feel and complain about if you're not respecting quiet hours, and at the same time it is still under control and responds quickly to nuance which makes it great for music too. Admittedly, I'm not a hifi music listener but I've grown a bit of an ear and I don't hear anything sloppy. For movies that produce deliver rumbles (Interstellar and Twister 1996, 4k), it's absolutely there and perfect. When it needs to pick up the low end frequency for music, it's also performs astoundingly well and I can't hear the crossover between these and KEF LS50s. Whatever you need this sub to do, it will do great. The the trigger input works great with my receiver, turning on only when needed. The associated app to control the sub works better than any app to device. I've ever used and I have never once seen the app blink or think when opening to figure out the state of the sub and allow me to change settings. It's amazing when you want to dial up and down on the fly because nighttime watching with close neighbors is a thing. Though it is larger than the sealed version, I find the size of this sub great. A smaller sub in overall height and depth for so many of us because it's going to occupy that corner it sits in anyways with nothing on top. The ports are in the front of this subwoofer so the spacing from the wall isn't the biggest concern. I can't think of a single shortcoming of this subwoofer for what it is supposed to be, and at this price point. If you lived in a bigger house, just get a bigger one.

Brilliant Piece of Equipment
I won't pretend this thing is cheap, especially for those of us that have to pay for weight-based shipping. However, once you get it, totally blows your mind. This thing can go low and shake the room easily. I don't even have to get anywhere close to max. Also, the bass is there even in low volume. So I can actually enjoy quality without being a nuisance. And the setup? So straightforward. But that's to me. For proper audiophile I'm sure they know how to play with the advanced settings for even better output. I left it mostly on default settings and I am very happy with it.

Can be used easily with old gear.
I havenโt owned this very long. Only played a few times. Doesnโt seem much different than the sealed version it replaced. I moved that on to a different area. I bought both because they have speaker, high level connections. I have an old Pioneer receiver from the 1970โs. The SB1000 pro is now with a home theater receiver. Will update the PB1000 pro at a later date.

DO IT!!!!
Glam_Azon was a great seller! This item was listed as used-mint but it looks brand spanking new to me! Couldnt be happier especially at the price i got it for..... Initially i was going to purchase a polk xt12 or the ES12....Given the price GLAMAZON had this for i purchased the SVS and man am i happy. This thing shakes the house. Granted i have this under my computer table, the room is about 10ft x 22ft...the whole room rocks with this. The bass is clean....and can go super low without sounding distorted. I am also happy that i went with SVS because of the App!!!! THIS IS SUCH A GREAT FEATURE EVERY MANUFACTURER SHOULD DO THIS! The build quality of the speaker is also excellent! It exudes quality! Just ensure you have the room for it cause it is large.....for context....my previous sets of speakers were Logitech z906 and JBL Bar 500 with 10 inch sub! This dwarfs that! so please please please verify your space before purchasing..... I bit the bullet and exhausted my funds for this but BUY ONCE CRY ONCE!

Just Buy It! Awesome Sounding Sub!
Purchased the SVS PB-1000 sub due to my old Acoustech 12โ sub died. It was almost 20 years old so it served me well. At first I replaced it with a 12โ Klipsch sub but I returned that right away because it was extremely boomy sounding. Iโve heard a lot of good things about SVS so I figured it was time to give them a try. Boy, am I glad I did! It sounds great! A night and day difference compared to the Klipsch sub. The PB-1000 is not boomy at all. It provides powerful but smooth & tight bass. Movies sound unreal! Scenes from Godzilla x Kong are room shaking. You can feel it in your chest! If youโre on the lookout for a new sub just pull the trigger and get this. You wonโt regret it. I also love being able to control the sub using the Bluetooth app! Glamazon did an amazing job packing the sub. It arrived very quickly as well. They also included 2 foam port plugs in the event you wanted/needed to use them. Overall, I couldnโt be happier!

Amazing sub, even at the price it is
I've used mostly polk subs but also dual Klipsch subs for a while, witch I didn't find any better then a cheap polk, after that I thought more expensive subs are probably just a waste of money for me, so this sub was definitely a test as I didn't think it would wow me. This sub is amazing. I will say my room is smaller, 11x20ft, and if it was much bigger I think you might need two for the same impact, but for my size room this can go way louder then I need it, to pressurize a bigger room (at least 400+ square ft) might be hard with one though. I didn't expect it to do alot for music honestly because I already have good tower speakers, but it really brings the music to life, even at low volumes you can really hear a difference. I've never experienced this with a sub but the really good sounding lows seem to make the mids sound a lot better too, even when you think you can't hear the sub or feel it at low volumes, when you turn it off the difference is extremely noticeable. For live music played louder it makes you feel like your at the show. It can be more boomy if you like that, but you can definately set it really tight for music so even an organ won't sound boomy, just extremely low pitched. For movies and games this sub is outstanding, movies are like being at the theatre and it brings games to a whole other level, especially fps or action games. Try out "The Game Has Changed - Daft punk" for some extreme bass and infrasonic bass, or watch the move Tron, that song is in the movie, and the whole movie has lots of infrasonic bass to tune the sub. The app for it is the best thing that has ever happened to subwoofers, I love that I can have a movie, music and night mode set in the app and switch between them right on my phone, changing multiple settings with one click, instead of climbing behind the sub. I waited a while to write this because I wasn't sure how I felt about the value of it (1475$ cad when I bought it), it is extremely expensive, but after using it for a few months, I would consider getting another one eventually, it's that good. And I don't think I could ever enjoy movies or music as much again without a sub as good as this one. It really brings the sound to another level if you have good speakers, especially compared to cheaper subs, witch I was surprised about, I thought a sub was a sub.

Best Subwoofer ever for the price
This is the best Subwoofer I have ever owned, my old Rel Subwoofer had too many issue so replaced it with this one after a lot of searching. I would like to point out the best part is the App so you can alter the setting on the fly in seconds and the sound Quality is just excellent very happy with it. This is 100% better then the Rel Subwoofer which was my old one that had way too many problems with. Really glad I replaced my Rel sub for this one cost a lot more but way way better well worth replacing. Got to love the Svs App....
